Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Matrixston Wow! Such a good movie.
ScoobyWell Great visuals, story delivers no surprises
Hattie I didn’t really have many expectations going into the movie (good or bad), but I actually really enjoyed it. I really liked the characters and the banter between them.
nacm This is a great independent b-movie. The budget was a million dollars (a lot less than most mainstream movies), and they spent that money very wisely. This could have easily been shown in theaters and gotten solid reviews. The acting is surprisingly decent. I felt connected to the main characters. They didn't go over the top like with so many other b-movies, and they had such good chemistry I wouldn't be surprised if they were friends outside the movie. The storyline is not completely original and there are some cliché moments, but the story moves fluidly and is executed well. If this had been a mainstream release, my rating probably would be 7 or 8. Since it's a good independent, which is severely lacking in the horror genre of late, I'm giving them an extra point. If more independents were this good, I'd be in horror heaven.
robfather_87 Synopsis: This movie is about some teenagers working in a midnight movie theater screening a new slasher movie. Some friends of Bridget (Rebekah Brandes) who work there come to see the movie. What they don't know is that this movie was the favorite movie of a mental institution guy who killed a lot of people in the institution right before the movie was going up on this theater. It seems like this mental guy has something to do with the things that happen in this theater. And this movie seems to be a bit cursed. What shall they do when the killer in the movie comes out of it. Acting: It is not the best of acting from any of them but it is done at the standards that you would expect from a movie like this. No one of the actors do something noteworthy or special out of the acting, but it works fine. I can say that they do a better job then what I would call a typical B-movie standard and that is a plus. For the major actors in this one like Rebekah Brandes, she have done some other horror movies but I have not seen any of those yet. And she is also coming out with some new movies in 2013 and 2014. Daniel Bonjour has also done some movies before this but nothing worth mentioning and has some movies coming out in 2013 and 2014. Brea Grant may be one of the most famous in this movie just sad she did not have a bigger part in this movie. She may be most known for her roles in Dexter and Heroes TV Shows. The director Jack Messitt this is his first and only movie so far and that is sad because he have something going on with this movie. Cinematography: I would like to point out that it is a good setting a nice small town movie theater setting. It looks OK and nothing feels out of place. The camera work I actually liked very much. Jack Messitt did a good work behind camera. Nice worked out camera angles. I would also say that it has a very cool intro that they have done good work with. Not this usual boring intro but with some kind of fill out documents with the credited cast and crew. I feel when you have a good intro you set the mood for the audience and what they feel to expect from the rest. So the intro gets a big plus.Music/Sound: One of my personal most important aspects of a horror movie is the music and the sounds. In this movie they had done this very good. Great sound mixing for the right moment and right scenes for the movie. And back to the intro again, I think they should have replaced the song in the intro with something a bit more horror-like. But I guess it works fine for the teenage audience, it is a teenage slasher flick after all. Out from that all music and sound was pretty good.Costume/Make-up: Nothing much to say here everything looked good with the costumes and I really liked the killers mask well done. When it comes to the blood it was very good done. The only thing I would say here is I hate the use of bad CGI. I think that if you can't do it with the amount of money you have for the film skip trying to use CGI. It is a scene in the movie where they use some electricity to kill someone and this is too much use of in my opinion CGI. It just ruins a bit of the movie. They made movies without the CGI in old movies and you can make it now. If it looks real go for it if not just skip that part. Summary: I think a lot of people would like this movie it is not perfect but a good movie for a late night slasher. It is the typical teenage slasher but it is done well and it has nothing very new that you have not seen before. It has those clichés you know from many of these kind of slasher movies, but it is a good movie if you like slasher movies. I would recommend it to people who likes this genre. All in all a perfect slasher if you are not looking for something very new and original stuff. I would compare it with Texas chainsaw massacre and Friday the 13th but in my eyes those are the better if you have not watched them. I don't know if I liked the ending very much but I think it works OK. As I mentioned before on this review Jack Messitt have only made this movie and I guess it is because this movies budget was at 1,000,000$ and I guess it did not go in plus. But it could also be that he did not have anything new for us after this.
grodemann The word for this movie is Homage, and if you've seen Cop Out its not as overplayed as that. However there is a cool tip of the hat to the old films that didn't show the blood and left all of the killing to the imagination. It's a cool meta level of movie, since the movie is about watching a movie thats surrounded by a the stigma of a massacre in a psyche ward. If your fans of the gore though, there's something there for you, the movie just warms up as it goes on. The killings occur in both the movie they are watching and the movie you are watching. It is neat to see the way the movie gets into that realm of "its OK its just a movie" as the characters aren't worried about their friends brutal murder at first, assuming that it's all just special effects and a joke he is playing on them. And for all the special effects fans the Killer Cut really takes the time to do those right.
mdett Legit scary movie that I will be adding to my DVD collection! The killer attacks his victims in a movie theater (great scene setting) and senses them through the fear they expose when he is around. Different plot line from other horror/slasher movies and this one kept me entertained the whole time. Once you think it's game over, something else happens then adds another plot twist. I like twists in movies and this one definitely takes you for a ride. The actors are also attractive (bonus) and legit acting. Really great slasher. It was even voted top 100 scariest scores of all time by XM Radio/Cinemagic. The actresses Brea Grant (from Heroes) and Rebekah Brandes (starring in an upcoming summer flick) are also leading in this film. Scared the heebeejeebus out of me! Totally recommend to anyone looking to watch a horror/cult film/slasher/wet my pants movie. Especially during the midnight hours...
