InformationRap This is one of the few movies I've ever seen where the whole audience broke into spontaneous, loud applause a third of the way in.
Maleeha Vincent It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Josephina Great story, amazing characters, superb action, enthralling cinematography. Yes, this is something I am glad I spent money on.
asadullahbeg Well I would like to keep it simple and easy. The movie was a blow to AB's career and it is a good thing Shiny Ahuja declined the villain's role. Smart move there mate. The movie revolves around a very 1 dimensional character Adi who is suppressed by his cruel aunt and her son, wow what an original bunch of characters. To top that off the villain is a complete douche bag with terrible acting not to mention the stupid costumes and the stupid names of almost all the characters make you wish you didn't have eyes to see and ears to hear. The soundtrack of the movie and some initial scenes closely resemble Harry Potter and the dementors how can we forget the Indian dementors,To top everything off the most retarded character is then introduced, enter Sonia. Oh wait sorry that character is not the most stupidest I totally forgot about those moronic puppets which are suppose to be scary? The complete ease at how these "dementors" find the hiding place of the supposed guardians of Drona is a concrete evidence that the storyline was thought out while the writer was taking a dump.Rani Jayati as always was good in her acting but wasn't that much of an influence on the movie to save it. What you gonna do when every other character is trying their best to show how bad they can act.Well I wouldn't like to discuss the end of the story but if you would like to see a movie full of idiotic scenes, bad acting, stupid costumes, mind numbing plots do watch this movie and if your day wasn't bad enough this movie will surely destroy it.
Souvik Chatterjee I'll probably be called 'promoter' of this film, or 'friend' of the director for writing this review as has been the case with the people who liked the film and dared to express themselves here. But the negative reviews here and from everywhere forces me to pen down my own thoughts about Drona. Let me start by saying that if there is any competitor for the LOR series (Loved them) or even Harry Potter series(stupid is what I call them), its this Film. Drona. A very brave attempt in introducing a subject untouched by Bollywood, but experimented with and explored by Hollywood. Drona is the story of a common man who realizes that he is the guard of 'Amrit', the potion of eternal life. His fight to save it from the hand of Asura (The demon) is the story of Drona. Abhisek Bachchan is quite convincing in this role, first as the common man, and then as the commander of Super-powers. He realizes his own strength and potential. Priyanka Chopra is beautiful as usual. We do not see women being action-heroines in Hindi Films. She dared to be different and how well! KK, as the 'abnormal' incarnation of Asura gives another awesome performance. Let me also say here that the people who are hitting KK for his 'worst acting ever' does not even realize the character he plays. He is supposed to be comical and dangerous at the same time. He is supposed to be insane. He is the incarnation of evil. What did you expect? Gabbar Singh? The story is tight set. You will not (or should I say should not?) feel lax at any point, expect for the unnecessary song-and-dance routines. There are two. Which bring me to the negative point of the film. If the director had to be courageous enough to make such a movie he should also have the guts to cut-off the totally unnecessary song-and-dance to please the front row audiences. The background music is fitting for this kind of a film. The music kind of introduces the concept of 'Theme' into this movie, which is NOT the case with most Bollywood ventures. Let me end by saying that if you have your expectations set right and if you like films in the line of LOR, this is definitely for you. Now let the bashing begin from the members! I'm ready to take them with a smile. 'I' loved Drona. Period.
Nishi I don't know why the makers were so excited about this film. When I saw it, I knew it was going to be a flop. The film is far too unrealistic. Especially the scene in a village called Raazpur. The make-up and costumes of the villagers are horrible. Furher more, the film has like many other Bolywood films not much of a story. This film could work for American public. Hollywood has made more than one of this kind if films. Drona is not for the Indian market. It doesn't have a real love story and it doesn't get into the depth of the characters.Priyanka looked throughout the film like a gypsy. The image suits her but not the film. She doesn't look Indian. She does look Indian at the end of the film where she tells her son Drona's tale. There she wears some nice jewelry and her clothes are also pretty. Abhishek looks very handsome. He looks like a king. That is, in the second half where he already has got his Drona suit. I could watch the film just because he looks so good. His looks in this film are a huge contrast to his outfits in Dhoom 2. In that film he wore the most ugly shirts possible. The background music is very nice. It fits the scenes. But it is western music. This story is supposed to be an Indian myth. It should have had classical Indian music. The kind you hear is series about the Mahabharata. The songs are not bad. Much rock and one of them is jazz. One of them is a lullaby. I don't get the function of that one in the film. The special effects are nice. But not all were required. Where does a sea come from in the middle of the dessert? (The scene where Abhishek goes to search for Priyanka who has been kidnapped) The blue pedals had an effect of Mozes who divided the Red Sea. The underwater scenes when Drona had to win his father's sword were too dark. The fighting scenes were also very dark. You can't clearly see what happens. The acting was nice. Priyanka and Abhishek both did a good job. Kay Kay Menon did his role as a maniac superbly. He really seemed a sick idiotic evil person. He's role seemed a bit like the evil puppet-master of Pinocchio. If you like a film that has much fantasy of the writer, you should definitely see this one.
sun_bagg To those folks who haven't watched this movie....please do NOT watch this movie. The thing which i do not understand IS that why do Indian directors lack the vision and imagination required to make a fantasy movie!!! I can't even give the movie some credits for a nice attempt because a decent attempt would have resulted in the movie ten times better then this one!! ZERO IN ACTING...ZERO IN COSTUMES...ZERO IN ANIMATION..ZERO IN ORIGINALITY..and the sets look so artificial that even a 2 year old can tell the difference. There should be an option of rating 0/10 on IMDb,b'cause this movie deserves a BIG 0.
