Reviews

Perry Kate Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
VividSimon Simply Perfect
Hadrina The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful
Ginger Very good movie overall, highly recommended. Most of the negative reviews don't have any merit and are all pollitically based. Give this movie a chance at least, and it might give you a different perspective.
ritera1 For those who don't know, the Blacklist is a list of the best unproduced scripts in Hollywood.I saw where it had potential, although was telegraphing that it wasn't so good at the beginning. My guess is that the director, Matt Shakman (TV director, heavily with It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia) got in over his head or had less and less resources, as it apparently was made over two years. My first impression of the set-up was asking why the shooter didn't notice Hemmesworth and his girlfriend so close. Thus, that brought me out of the movie. It made up for it somewhat as I then guessed the whole scam when Hemmesworth was reading the very obvious and large sign in the Post Office about murdering postal employees. In a town that never has murders. But then made me think that it was engineered as stupid as most of things like that require a conviction of the perpetrator. Thus, a very forced plot device. But okay, I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Besides, it had a very good cast (except for the pedestrian Hemmesworth and Teresa Palmer). But did have some poor production values. And in the end it just felt sloppy. Malcovich had somewhat amusing character traits but then the epilogue of him not escaping the town years before was vague.Maybe there was something interesting there with the psyco played by Michael Stuhlbarg, but apparently they never shot it or cut it out. I could see if he was so proficient in killing and fighting on a regular basis, but it seemed like this was new for him and he was magically very good. But Stuhlberg still made something interesting out of what he had. Thus, quite a bit was missed. Maybe there's a much better 2 hour version somewhere vs. the 1 1/2 hours I saw.In the end, it was a few dumbasses with a dumbass (badly researched) plan that got way out of hand.
dominickdesid Cut Bank is a little guy, little money film with great depth of character which beats out big Hollywood mafia on all battle fronts. It's a basic entertainment success in my estimation which can hopefully be replicated in this media war. It's a short honest 93 minute film that's safe to be alone in the dark with from first frame to last credit. Sure it's an under-appreciated little seriocomedy, thriller and love story, but it's also a film gem. Well Directed by Matt Shakman, but with a big performances from a great cast of actors across-the-board, with an impressive, and excellent standout performance by Michael Stuhlbarg. Correct reality Casting by Candice Elzinga and Rhonda Fisekci was near freak free perfect. Which if comes up short anywhere in its miserly budget, it's only weak link is in the quality of the Cinematographic Process, but it's not bad at all and appealing to view. Music by James Newton Howard sound score sets the pace nicely throughout, and end credits with Hank Williams Jr. singing the fitting "Cut Bank, Montana" soliloquy. Though it's only a film, and not real classic theater, this is not a one night stand, It's a film which will get better every time you see it for short basic entertainment over the years, so turns off the lights and enjoy…It's certainly a much better film than a thoroughly zero loser crap nonsense of "Fargo" and the see only it once and throw it away quickly , grossly sick degenerate, and highly overrated, The Shawshank Redemption (1994).
tomdugan2-1 How could you go wrong with Billy Bob Thornton, John Malkovich and Bruce Dern supporting this film? The simple answer is that the two leads, Liam Hemsworth and Teresa Palmer just don't do well as the characters the story is about. The script is interesting and dark with some initial unexpected twists arcing around two low-end-of-nowhere Midwestern kids a couple of years out of high school. The problem is the leads are being played by older looking yuppies in jeans who seem wildly out of place in an isolated farming community of 3,000. In fact it is sometimes almost sad seeing these two actors struggling to cover parts they physically grew out of five or even ten years ago. The only interesting performance here came from Michael Stuhlbarg who did well as a strange reclusive character Mr. Thornton cut his teeth on. Ironically enough, he looked right for his role, even though he seemed to be about the same age as the supposedly much younger leads. Is this a failure in casting, acting, directing or scripting? Not sure where the wheels fell off the wagon, but this film definitely misses the mark on a project that should have been a lot more compelling.
Gordon-11 This film tells the story of a young man who witnesses and videos the first murder in a small town in Montana. Things spiral out of control over the next few days, and the town is never the same again."Cut Bank" is quite an interesting film, because it's a crime thriller inn a rural area, yet the viewers know the answers before the characters in the film do. It's a gripping story, and keeps me interested throughout, even though the viewers know about the young man's plot almost right from the start. I feel quite sad for the residents of the small town, as it must have been quite as shock for them. The ending also shows how life is different from city life. It's a disturbing and touching at the same time. I enjoyed watching this film.
