Osmosis Iron This neo-noir detective story set in high-school and starring teenagers is as weird as you'd think but equally as awesome! True the characters are teens not hardened criminals and crooked cops, and it is high-school not the mean streets of New York, but everything is played straight, it's not a comedy! There are comedic elements, but all in all it's a gritty mystery. The characters are cool and feature characteristics you'd expect, there are no boy scouts here. Gordon Levitt's character is a charismatic lead that oozes style! There are almost too many twists and turns, but it works. A truly unique movie and definitely worth a watch!

dexter_greycells My main grudge with this movie was the dialogues and language used. I had the subtitles on and and it was still difficult to grasp the proceedings because of the jargon and the complicated plot. Users who rated this movie highly used the word 'noir' to describe it. I am just an average movie goer and not some critic. So, that went over my head. Some of the characters (The Pin, especially and The Brain) were too flimsy. The suspense is barely gripping. Wouldn't recommend it.
katjasander Brick is a film where a lot happen at the same time. It has many aspects of film noir. For example, the PIN wears trench coats and hats. The actors use guns, cigarettes as well as fight a lot. Brick tells a dangerous story about a high school boy who chooses the way in the life of high school crime because of his disappeared ex-girlfriend. These dangerous atmospheres and fast fights are typical for film noir, but the movie isn't in black and white. In general it is a brutal film and the most of the time the mood is strained and despairing because of the mystery about the main actors ex-girlfriend. I think this film is confusing. The specific vocabulary makes the movie difficult to understand and this makes it hard to follow the movie. At least it wouldn't be my favorite film because it was difficult to understand and every character is a kind of aggressive. I would change it because they fight all the time and many times without a good reason. It isn't exciting when people fight in each conversation they have. I would change it that they fight less and only in crucial parts. More over, I would change the end of the fights because the main character ends the same way. Most of the time, the main character starts the fight by putting his glasses away. Finally, I think that the basic story is a pretty good idea but I would reduce the violence.
