Karry Best movie of this year hands down!

Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Erica Derrick By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Pjtaylor-96-138044 'Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero (1998)' is more of a continuation of 'Batman: The Animated Series (1992)' than a proper stand-alone feature and, as such, doesn't introduce or even really develop any of its characters. They're all close to their usual incarnations, though, which means even those unfamiliar with the show should find their footing fairly fast, if they know at least one previous version of these players. Mr. Freeze is really the star here, as the antagonist is given a clear motive and some nice characterisation that makes him more than the typical 'bad-guy' fare. This is usually the case, as the cold character has a clear driving-force that means he is just as likely to team up with the caped crusader as try to freeze him solid, and he has consistently been one of Batman's better villains - aside from in 'Batman & Robin (1997)' - ever since his character has been fully figured out. The overall narrative is a little messy, however. It's marred by frequent and long fade-to-black 'chapter breaks', from the piece's original television airing, and leans a little into the 'damsel in distress' cliché, though this 'damsel' does fight every step of the way aside from in the initial kidnapping sequence. It also features bizarrely little of the dark knight for a picture that bares his name. Emphasis is placed on the set-up and subsequent detective work, making for an unconventional structure that doesn't really feel so much a feature as an extended television episode. Still, the unconventional approach and less focus on fisticuffs is slightly refreshing; the piece remains and intriguing and entertaining watch throughout. The consistently noir-ish and sometimes awe-inspiring animation brings our hero, his friends and his foes to life with a beautiful verve that's only sometimes besmirched by odd and out-of-place, if occasionally slightly effective, 3D elements. This makes the flick a feast for the eyes even with its basic, slightly 'Scooby-Doo', art-style and adds a lot of value to the already engaging adventure. 6/10
Wael Katkhuda this film was sort of film that you find difficult to describe as a good or a bad film, it was an okay film with both okay story and action scenes, But my biggest problem with this film was the story line which is the same story line in every film or TV episode the MR. Freeze starring in it . And i kept asking myself the whole time while watching it why producers decided to made it even it was released a year after ( Batman & Robin) which was made exactly a year before this one ( maybe the wasn't happy about because it was a big flop). Anyway i only recommend this film if you're a Batman fan, it's a fine film with fine action scenes but please don't except to watch a great film such as Batman Make of the phantasm.
Danny Blankenship I for one have never really been a big fan of animated cartoon type movies, that is since I'm now an adult but in my past as a kid I treasured them. And being a big "Batman" fan I just had to check out the animated films even as an adult. I must say that this film featuring villain Mr. Freeze: Subzero didn't let me down either. As Freeze wanted to chill Gotham City this animated film brought red hot explosive action! The drama and story is well laid out with a plot twist that would even appear in a big screen movie. It centers around Barbara Gordon("Batgirl") who finds herself being the unlucky one that's kidnapped by Freeze when he finds out that she's an organ donor. The thing is the wife of Freeze needs an organ transplant to return to her normal state. Never fear "Batman" and "Robin" are to the rescue! Really watch this if you haven't it ends with everyone on a happy note just like the days when you as a kid watched cartoons! Overall great animated work of a "Batman" film.
MisterWhiplash This doesn't necessarily put Subzero, a straight-to-video release about Mr. Freeze's ongoing attempts to resurrect his wife, into the pantheon of great Batman animated movies. When comparing to Mask of the Phantasm or even Batman/Superman, it's nowhere near as ambitious. It's actually kind of run-of-the-mill in its storytelling, with some solid peril as Batman and Robin try and crack the mystery behind Batgirl/Barbara Bordon's kidnapping, but some lackluster animation. When the filmmakers try to inject some computer animation into some sequences, like with some of the chase scenes or the ones up in the arctic, they completely fall flat. And the romantic entangling we see Dick Grayson and Barara get into is weak as well. Only when the animators stick to what works best on the TV series, and when we get a few moments of pure Batman action, does the movie strike any decent ground. It's maybe worth seeing once, mostly if you're big into Batman or the series (hey, who can resist Kevin Conroy voicing Batman?), but its appeal isn't one for repeat viewings, save if you're really young and don't care either way.
