Babe is an amazing, unique, funny, beautiful, enjoyable film. Everything about this film is great. Its the story of a pig who trains as a sheep dog and becomes friends with the sheep, dogs, horse, cow, duck and even the farmer. Its one of the most watchable films ever, anyone could watch it at any time and still enjoy it. Its just great. 9/10

Like The Simpsons, and to a degree its various US cartoon followers, Babe is a film sophisticated enough to be too good for many adults. It isn't just the Saint-Saens organ symphony adaptation, If I Had Words, as its music score which marks it as a film to pay attention to. Or the fabulous character creations like Ferdinand. The simple but fundamental moral of the story is the profound truth that treating others as you would like to be treated yourself is the way to be. And that this works - just look at non-British-Capitalist Northern European nations' unmatched economic and social success in the latter half of the 20th century.Yes, cooperation and good communication beat brutality any day, even if at the expense of all those individuals and corporations who live off hatred and contempt. There's unfortunately no danger of Babe's philosophy making the world what it could be. That's the only reason it is a fairytale - and in any case not for children.

My favorite movie of all time! It's so charming, the talking animal effects and the story hold up really well 20+ years later. James Cromwell is terrific as Farmer Hoggett, the voice actors of all the animals are great, the movie is visually gorgeous. This movie is my happy place and if you haven't seen Babe yet, don't miss out! Also, worth watching is the sequel, Babe: Pig in the City. It somehow manages to be darker yet sillier at the same time.

Each character is beautifully brought to life. From farmer Hoggett to Dutchess the cat, no matter how little is said, how little they are on screen they are pleasure to watch. Nothing is over stated or over explained. And it's all there before you: the beauty and the horror that is life. Now before I scare you thinking you will get some type of lecture shoved down your throat, let me say again: it is like a fairy tale. You are welcomed into both worlds of humans and animals and the story of what happens when their paths cross and you mix in a little love, patience and that belief that your dreams have a right to come true.
