Dotsthavesp I wanted to but couldn't!
ChanBot i must have seen a different film!!
Humaira Grant It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.
Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
Kat Kit My one and only true past time is to just sit and watch horror movies, and I have nearly never found one that I disliked or found that the acting was in poor taste. I even enjoyed the movie Smiley, which many others disliked. But this movie is a tragic fail, I don't know why I watched it to the end but it was awful, the actors were poor, it was not scary at all, the plot/storyline didn't make sense and was awful, an incredibly boring horror to be honest. Their was a lot of plot holes in this as well, for example; (WARNING:SPOLIERS) At the end when you find out that the small kid, Emily and the fat perverted old man who also live in the flats are also ghosts, it never explains how they die or why their deaths are not documented, it just makes no sense. Theirs random scenes in the movie, that do not need to be there, again (SPOLIERS) when the ghost is sat in the sink covered in blood, or when theirs a hanging body in a bag that may of supposedly been creating a bad smell? The movie just doesn't make sense and it simply poorly showed. The only reason its a 2 out of 10 and not a 1 is because they at least made it so you understood the storyline and why apartment 1303 is dangerous...(even though they showed that poorly too) I hate writing negative reviews on movies, but this one is a strong exception. I would not recommend watching this.
gosorio25 This is not the worst movie I've seen, but it's in the race. You can't tell a horror story revealing all sinister facts from the beginning. Rebecca De Mornay is overacted. I know she's not the best actress, but in Mother's Day she was very good. The music and lights are OK and help to the scary whole thing. I believe that the main problem is on directing and editing. The performances are not so bad, and with a proper edition work, may be a better movie. There are two good things in the movie: the Apartment's view and Corey Sevier's body. This is a movie that I know that I will remember, and maybe could see it again. I'm a big horror movies fan and sometimes when you give a second chance, with proper environment (low lights, a rainy day), a movie could be better than the first time.
blakkdog This movie is just bad from start to finish. Not in any kind of entertaining way. Just bad... No need to see it. Terrible writing and bad acting come together to make something hard to take seriously at all. Every character is either annoying or vapant (or both). Rebecca De Mornay has fallen a long way since The Trip to Bountiful and Mischa Barton has lost a lot since Sixth Sense (and all she did in that film was throw up). The younger sister was so annoying that you wanted to smack her and her cop boyfriend was wooden and his character was developed terribly. Its like he developed from a throw away character to a significant character and then as soon as hes reached that point he dies in the lamest way. And the ghost doesn't seem like a ghost (except when shes suddenly transforming into smoke..) Shes super aggressive but shes not scary looking or have any sort of supernatural qualities or deformities so she comes off as a sadistic sorority sister bullying people (by pushing them off balconies) rather than a ghost or some sort of supernatural creature. Same is true with the other ghosts. Clearly there's something going on with the little girl. But the superintendent comes off completely like a normal perverted old man. Thats inconsistent. And are we to assume the entire floor has been killed off? I almost laughed when the little girl said "im here to tell people to get out but they never listen..." at the end. And basing a ghost movie in an urban high rise just doesn't work in my opinion. At least in our culture. A splendid (if not a little seedy) downtown apartment has a wonderful view and is filled with people and all the trappings of modern life and a ghost thats only been there for 20 years... Should have based it in a small town cottage or farm or something. The modern urban mixed with the sinister supernatural haunting thing just doesn't work. But then the entire movie doesn't work.
nickbroombaugh The only way this movie could have entertained me any less, would have been to remove the actors completely and film the empty apartment. This would have, at least, fixed the terrible script and awkward, unconvincing character interactions. I would literally have rather watched Rebecca De Mornay get drunk and play the guitar for an hour and a half. The acting was terrible, aside from De Mornay, but even she hardly gave a star-worthy performance thanks to awful dialogue and poor direction. The boyfriend, apparently played by Colin Ferrel's stunt double, seemed bored and lethargic, while his girlfriend, played by Julianne Michelle, seemed more than content to make up for his lack of emotion. Overacting is an understatement. Mischa Barton, on the other hand seemed to labor through each scene, struggling to make her lines work and her character appear deeper than the script allowed. Two stars is generous, afforded by decent CGI effects, though even those were unoriginal, borrowed and slightly improved from twentieth century horror films that, sadly, did a better job of it fifteen years ago. The plot was facile and underdeveloped, the characters hollow and dull and the overall experience was similar to watching a high school drama class practice their roles in a gymnasium.
