Marketic It's no definitive masterpiece but it's damn close.
Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Lela The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.
smatysia There seems to be a lot of negativity in the comments for this film. I thought it was pretty decent. Yes, voice-over narration is often a crutch, but it did not annoy me here. Cuba Gooding played it well even though his character was a little bit too good at evading the police. Tom Berenger was also just fine as a New Orleans police detective. Marianne Jean-Baptiste played all of the right notes as well. I guess I don't spend much time while watching movies trying to guess what is coming, or foretelling the ending. It seems that many people do. To each his own, I suppose. Nice scenery in both New Orleans and Key West. This never seems to have made it into theaters, but it is a nice diversion.
stephparsons Pedestrian, average, predictable, uninspired and badly acted; that about sums up 'A Murder of Crows'. It gave me a bad case of 'movie ennui' and made me think that perhaps I should take a break from watching movies (or pay more attention when selecting them). Cuba Gooding Junior, (who wasn't awful but ……..), plays Lawson Russell, a successful Lawyer who 'snaps' after defending one too many sleazy, guilty, rich clients, and is disbarred. Russell's quite non-plussed about this and goes from lawyer to purveyor of fishing trips in Florida, hoping he might, some day, get around to writing 'that novel'. His job brings him into contact with an old man (who is so obviously a young man with loads of fake wrinkles and make up - god, you'd think in this day and age they'd have the technology and know how to either do it properly or simply hire a real old man) - and guess what? The old man gives him a manuscript to read and then dies promptly before Russell can return it. I really need say no more about the plot as it's quite obvious what happens next. Yes, there are a few 'twists' (but you could see them coming a mile away, even if you were blind, deaf and had just had your head chopped off) so there's no real need to see the ending of this middle-of-the-road work of mediocrity. Although Gooding Junior was 'ok' in the acting department at the start of this film, as it wore on he seemed to just give up (as the script writer and director had presumably done). If you're looking for a movie that requires no thinking, no surprises, no interesting screen play, and no great actors, then 'A Murder of Crows' just might fit the bill. The only thing I can really recommend about this movie is the 'acting' of the police, detectives, agents, bailiff etc - their performances are SO bad, you might get a good chuckle (for about 2 minutes)
ray-280 Just as the leading actors (Cuba Gooding and Tom Berenger) masquerade as A-list stars, the plot and its direction masquerade as a "thriller." If you aren't paying attention, you might be duped into thinking this is a good movie, but as the old myth about Chinese food goes, you'll be starving again an hour later.Gooding plays an attorney who is disbarred for snitching out a guilty client as in "And Justice For All," who is then framed for a murder and tormented by the killer and the cops throughout. If only the audience had been as fortunate. Those who enjoy seeing steroetypical racism on screen as a means for enlightening the audience will be proud.
Movie Nuttball A Murder of Crows is a very good film that has a good cast which includes Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Berenger, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eric Stoltz, Mark Pellegrino, Ashley Laurence, Carmen Argenziano, Doug Wert, Nate Adams, Jeremiah Black, Derek Broes, Adrian Colon, and Gaelle Comparat! The acting by all of these actors is very good. Gooding Jr. , Berenger, Jean-Baptiste, and Stoltz are really excellent in this film. I thought that they performed good. Pellegrine has a terrific performance in this film! It maybe his best! The thrills is really good and some of it is surprising. The movie is filmed very good. The music is good. The only downfall is the scene sex and nudity scenes which I thought brought the excitement of the film down a few stars but however, the film is quite interesting and the movie really keeps you going until the end. This is a very good and thrilling film. If you like Tom Berenger, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eric Stoltz, Mark Pellegrino, Ashley Laurence, the rest of the cast in the film, Action, Thrillers, Crime, Dramas, and interesting films then I strongly recommend you to see this film today!
