Kinley This movie feels like it was made purely to piss off people who want good shows
adonis98-743-186503 While retaining her secret identity, the illustrious Mrs. Erlynne (Hunt) saves Lady Windemere (Johansson) from making a grand social faux-pas with the scoundrelly Lord Darlington (Moore). A Good Woman will please fans of this kind of films that take place in this certains times with women and their nice dresses and drinking teas and other things like that but for viewers that want to be entertained will not find this film that pleasing to be honest. june-86154 With Box Office statistic: Opening Weekend: £130,193 (UK) (13 May 2005)Gross: $223,144 (USA) (17 February 2006) It's not a box office movie. Talk about story: the story goes very slow. Dialogue and story is not a strong structure. Seems like the script is way far to perfect. And with a lot of big name actor and actress appeared in the movie, they can do much better than that. Beside the beautiful costume which is can find in many movie so far after this movie, I prefer a lot of other mover would be better with the better script, structure, tell story and better make. It's really disappointed see the way this movie come out, it appeared with Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johansson with a beautiful handbill and vintage costume but very disappoint in the movie as a whole.
leonblackwood Review: This movie seemed like it was made for TV. It's one of those period dramas, set in the 1930's, about troubled relationships and cheating husbands. I liked the twist in the movie, which kept it slightly interesting, but the core of the storyline was a bit weak. The cast wasn't that bad but there wasn't anyone to bring some wit or intense drama to the film. Don't get me wrong, I am quite a fan of Tom Wilkinson, who has seemed to matured with age, but the main characters Helen Hunt and Scarlett Johansson, didn't really make the movie enjoyable, due to the script. Personally, I was expecting better from the cast, but I think that the whole project failed because of the poor direction. Disappointing!Round-Up: Everybody knows that Scarlett Johansson is blowing up at the moment in the Avengers franchise so she just can't seem to do wrong. Helen Hunt has been out of the limelight for some time now which is most probably due to her short range. She's quite good with drama concepts, but she hasn't really done anything else, except for Twister which was years ago. Tom Wilkinson has put in some great performances in movies like Michael Clayton and Batman Begins and he made me laugh as the baddie in RocknRolla. As for this movie, I enjoyed the banter between the old guys, but that was about it. Budget: N/A Worldwide Gross: $7millionI recommend this movie to people who are into there period drama/romantic stories about a lady who has an affair with a married man. 3/10
lythea-1 I was excited to see a new version of Lady Windermere's Fan, because I absolutely loved the version with Helena Little (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0323012/). It's a couple decades old, and it looks a little dated. You might notice there, though, that the only credited writer is Oscar Wilde, which makes sense for one of the greatest writers in the English language. What one gets here is the basic plot put into a blender with random Wilde quotes, which end up out of context and ridiculous. Of course they're still going to sound witty in any context, Wilde is just like that, but these characters sound like people trying very hard to achieve their cleverness, instead of simply having delightful conversations. It was so frustrating to see all the SENSE taken out of the writing that I had to stop watching halfway through. Plus Helen Hunt was just speaking her lines in a monotone, and Scarlett Johanson's idea of appearing innocent seems to be to just minimize her expressions as much as possible. Staring around vacantly doesn't do much to convey rigid thinking. I gave it the second star for the costumes and locations. Very pretty. Very stupid.
