lukem-52760 Actually a very fun adventure film, i didn't expect to enjoy this as much as i did but it was a cool little urban adventure that yes was moulded by the classic films THE WARRIORS (1979) & ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK (1981) but that's fine it's not a problem at all as it's just fun & fits in nicely to their universe really. The fact that they actually filmed mostly in the actual bronx itself at that almost apocalyptic time of early 80s is Fantastic & gives it the REAL bronx look with all it's gritty burned out buildings & rubble & wastelands & gives it the authentic feel that is something even Escape from New York COULDN'T do!!! So yes Escape from the Bronx has alot of good stuff in it & visually is very cool & the 80s music is silly at times but fun it's what you expect i mean this is an Italian production. The main character called Trash is actually ok not great like Snake Plisskin at all but ok & at least watchable & we have the always cool Fred Williamson as the king of the Bronx ogre. So yeah the story is fine about a girl who chose to hide out in the bronx & became involved with Trash & the government that want her back & send in an assassin to kill everyone & get her back,the Hammer played really well & intense by Vic Marrow & alot of colourful gangs & fights, so yeah a good fun ride that i could watch again. The sequel ESCAPE FROM THE BRONX is even better. Good late night trashy entertainment & lots of crazy action packed fun

rivertam26 How have I not seen this film. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a fan of bad cinema especially exploitative action pics Savage, Streets, Chained Heat, Barbarian Queen, enough said. But this one...this one takes the cake. It centers on a young woman who escapes from Manhattan in the future "1990" it was made in 1981 which has becomes the arms capital of the world to the Bronx which has been declared a war zone full of degenerates. She immediately falls in with Trash and his gang. But when Her rich Dad sends a ridiculous assassin to get her back who in turns plans on turning all the Bronx gangs against one another or something well chaos ensues. Now let's talk Trash. Wow he is one of the most stupefying, badly dressed, hunky conic characters I've ever come across. He has long curly hair, a muscular broad chest and sports a very open leather vest that exposes his nipples from time to time and very tight Mom jeans that well just lets you see everything. oh and let me not forget about his knee high leather boots. Oh he is amazing. even more amazing is how committed he is too the role. And his acting is just so bad he even has an intensely dramatic crying homoertic moment when his best friend gets killed. And the film is filled with gorgeous moments like that. The bad ass assassin is about 60 and jumps down from first floor windows in slow motion, Fred Williamson shows up as a sort of disco pimp character and his sidekick is a feisty blond with silver claws, a whip and a shiny silver and black cape. And let me not forget about the gang on roller skates with rainbow elbow and knee pads and their samurai haired leader. Oh I could just talk about this movie all day. But here it is if your a fan of Trash cinema you will be a fan of Trash and his gang and this movie seek it out as soon as possible it's worth it

acs0592 The Bronx is a no-mans land. Gangs run it, and the rest of NYC avoids it all costs. A girl runs into the Bronx and she is rescued by Trash's gang. Trash (Mark Gregory) is a really terrible actor and is very girly when he runs, or does pretty much anything. The girl turns out to be the next-in-line for the Manhattan Corporation, which controls the Bronx's fate. Hammer (Vic Morrow) is sent in to retrieve her and much chaos ensues. Trash has to fight through the Bronx to see Fred Williamson "The Ogre", who helps him fight off the bad guys. Many of the gangs that Trash and Co. encounter makes it seem like The Warriors, and the girl escaping into the no mans land gives it the Escape from NY charm. I missed the tap dancing gang, so check the uncut version. The dialog and acting is OK. Characters talk tough constantly, the music is appropriate (drumming scene on the beach). Sets are all very cheap to give that vibe of the Bronx being the No mans Land. The action is solid, with generous slow-mo and explosions. While it's certainly not a good movie, I would recommend it for the cheesy qualities, cool action scenes, bizarre gangs, and of course Fred Williamson, who is by far the best actor in the movie.

Arlis Fuson I love movies like this, it takes me back to the 80's when movies were good, and cheesy was even better than blockbusters. Always been a fan of these Italian b-horrors and b-action exploitation films.Here its in the future of 1990 in No mans land THE BRONX. The city is a scary place to be and ran by several gangs that all hate each other. Gangs like The Riders, The Tigers, The Zombies and The Scavengers and no cop would dare step fun in here. A rich girl sick of her life runs into the Bronx where the leader of the Riders, Trash, saves her and makes her his girl. The outsiders want her back and send in a real bada** to get the job done. He tried to set the gangs up and turn them against each other, and all Hell breaks lose in "No mans land".From the great opening credits shots to the famous gang/police war finale Dardano Sacchetti, the greatest writer ever, delivers. I loved the direction by Enzo Castellari and the wonderful music by Walt Rizzati. Just a beautiful package of post war b movie delight. The costumes were great and the motorcycles were cool with the skull lights on the front. It was a fun movie. Yea there were flaws, the city wasn't shut down so you can see heavy traffic in the background and even once a guy fishing during a gang meeting, but it doesn't matter this movie is still awesome. There was some good bloody scenes to make horror lovers enjoy this film as well. One scene was weird yet I loved it, it was when all the gang members pull up out in the middle of the deserted ruins of the city and yet there's a guy setting there with a drum set playing the entire time...funny as hell, i loved it. I also found little flaws like the fact they never had anyone on guard.Great acting here. Mark Greggory is one of my all time favorite actors, why that man wasn't a film superstar I don't know, hes good looking, built like a Greek god, could play any nationality you needed him to and just well centered when on camera. Vic Morrow played the bad guy Hammer, and he's another great 70's and 80's b-movie legend. Fred Williamson is a good guy and he's often hit or miss, and here it was mediocre at best on his acting. He didn't blow my mind as he has before. Chris Connely as Hot Dog, and George Eastman in a wonderful role and Golan...the cast was great.I love this film, it is for someone with an acquired taste. I love Mark Greggory, Sacchetti's work is do no wrong for me. Enzo direction is beautiful, his whole crew does good. I love Italian exploitation and the story was action packed at times and entertaining...It was however not perfect and slow at times, it was far from original and I can't completely lie and say it deserves more than 6 out of 10 stars.
