Synopsis

Spanish telenovela based on Johnston McCulley's characters. Don Diego Dela Vega, adopts the secret identity of Zorro. Diego born in the 1790s to a white father, Don Alejandro Dela Vega, and his wife, Native American warrior named Toypurnia. Diego learned his acrobatics and fencing skills in Spain, under a great swordmaster, than he returned to his family's California hacienda. He lives as both a nobleman and a vigilante, fighting imperialist oppression. He is backed by the brotherhood of Zorro, a secret society called the Knights of the Broken Thorn. Zorro falls in love with a beautiful young widow, Esmeralda Sánchez de Moncada. She arrives in California with her sister Mariángel Sánchez de Moncada and her father, Fernando, the newly appointed governor—and villainous dictator—of Los Angeles. The story arc focuses on mysteries concerning Esmeralda's long-lost mother and the man whose atrocities changed Diego's life forever. Their resolution threatens to shake the Spanish Empire.

Redwarmin This movie is the proof that the world is becoming a sick and dumb place
UnowPriceless hyped garbage
Beystiman It's fun, it's light, [but] it has a hard time when its tries to get heavy.
Cooktopi The acting in this movie is really good.
Danielle Have any of you found this on DVD or have seen it aired again on Telemundo? This was the first and only Novela I have seen and actually was hooked and fell completely in love with right from the opening song, Amor Gitano. I was obsessed with this Novela and song for awhile but was disappointed when I couldn't find it on DVD years ago. I just remembered about it tonight randomly and was wondering if any of you know how I can get ahold of the series. I'm considering even emailing Telemundo and asking them about how or where I can get it. Please please PLEASE let me know if you have any idea. Thank you thank you thank you!
ruuuuta I couldn't agree more with the previous comments. This novel was really good. I like all stories of Zorro and I am watching hundred times and of course I also was watching this. The story was interesting, always was the the plot. Performance of actors was also good. Marlene Favela showed the great actress abilities, not like in previous her novels (Gata salvaje, Contra viento y marea). Christian Meier like always perfect, hot and stunning. He did his job amazingly. Villains - Harry Geithner and Andrea Lopez were great. Their love-scenes were so emotional and passionate. Also were other good actors, such as Lully Bosa (here differently in "El Clon"she was a good, decent aunt and woman), Osvaldo Rios or young actress Adriana Campos who fascinated me. I couldn't not mention magnificent music and gypsy dances.
mixiepie909 I want this DVD...... My 76 yr old mother got me hooked on this show which is airing on TV in the day at 1pm to 3pm on channel 52. I did not see it when it started but I need to. I do not speak Spanish but I understand it and I have my mother who translates what I don't understand. I love this Zorro best of all Christian is hot. The story is so entertaining and never boring. It's nice cause u never know whats gonna happen especially with these characters. There all my favorite people. Who would of thought something in Spanish could be so entertaining. So now I am trying to find the DVD. So I can live in this fantasy world of El Zorro...........
craigman I might be the only non-Spanish speaking gringo that watches this show, yet I must admit that I'm hooked. Luckily if you activate the closed-captioning, the subtitles appear in English, so I can follow what the characters are saying. This seems to be the only show on Telemundo with English subtitles. I probably would never would have discovered this show, if not for my Peruvian wife, who started watching it before me. I missed the first month or so, and would like to see the whole series. Hopefully the'll run it again, or make it available on DVD.Probably the best thing about the show is the characters. There and plenty of interesting characters, some good, some evil, and some in-between. One of my favorites is Monterro, the evil blond commander who is the thorn in everybody's side. He has a dark sense of humor and the best sneer of any villain I've ever seen. There is also an obsessive hunchback, a freaky looking Marquise (reminds me of The Joker), a sorceress, gypsies, fugitive nuns, a woman prisoner with an iron mask, tortured evil one-eyed governor, a fat comic-relief soldier, vengeful Indians, an evil red-haired vixen, and of course Zorro himself. He fits the role perfectly, much better than Antonio Banderas did in those silly movies. Esmerelda is pretty hot as well. She reminds me of a more buxom Jessica Alba. I also like the ruthless bald soldier Pizzarro. You never know if he's going to help somebody or kill them. The bad-ass monk who mentors Zorro is quite a noble character as well. Like I said, there is a plethora of characters, pretty much all of which add to the show in a positive manner. This is probably because there are no bratty kids in the mix, come to think of it...This "novella" appeals to me mainly because there is a good deal of action mixed in with the obligatory romance. Also, unlike the sanitized American movies, there is quite a bit of violence, murder, torture, and even rape. The characters suffer quite a bit. A lot of this is implied, since it airs on regular network TV. There is some humor as well, to balance out the drama. There is also quite a bit of cleavage on display to appeal to me and other male viewers. Overall, I can't think of anything I dislike about this show. The opening sequence is very well done and enjoyable. I must have seen it a hundred times and have not grown tired of it. I've read that this show is a hit; I'm surprised nobody else has commented on it. Well, I definitely enjoy it and look forward to watching it!
