Reviews

Reptileenbu Did you people see the same film I saw?
Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Glucedee It's hard to see any effort in the film. There's no comedy to speak of, no real drama and, worst of all.
FuzzyTagz If the ambition is to provide two hours of instantly forgettable, popcorn-munching escapism, it succeeds.
MovieBuffMarine Like most remakes, it failed to stay afloat. It did however last more than one season when most remakes fail to make it that far.I echo the sentiments that this incarnation started slow. As they say, first impressions are lasting ones. The show did get better as went along, but in my opinion, it lost many viewers after the first episodes. Of course, you are going to get fans of the original tuning in; that's not really the crowd the creators should have been worried about, but the new comers. Yes, you want fans of the original to be onboard, but new fans in the numbers make for a happy show as they have no idea of what is going on. ABC likely lost a lot of newcomers to the V story from its slow start. If you were a fan of the original, you knew that the visitors were up to no good. That element of surprise is gone for original fans. Yes, this is a totally different show from the original and rightfully so. But when the element of surprise is not there, you need to tweak the plot a little otherwise you won't have much of a fan base for the remake. Another reviewer admonished, "This is not the original, do not look for it," which is a true statement.Rather than try to recreate the characters from the original, they wrote new ones which was a smart move. The show did start to pick up steam a little as the episodes got interesting. Unfortunately, by then, the show had lost many viewers.Season two came out with some interest going as apparently the network thought the latter half of season one was improved. But it never picked up enough steam to be the hit that it could have. You know the show is in trouble when two stars from the original V mini-series are brought in to try to garner more interest.Season 2 ended with a cliffhanger with no hope of season 3 to resolve it.Remakes or the fancy term "re-imagine(s)" are hit or miss, no more, no less, no gray areas. The (re-made) show either begins with a promising story that attracts many viewers and retains them at the get-go or it drags the first few steps and turns off the viewers that see it. Then they have a heck of a time trying to "adjust fire" and try to fix what was not working. The makers of the re-made V had the chance to cook up something very special in this new version but came short when the beginning was very slow.
wuawuamusic Well, I think it's a great series. And another great series where Scott Peters was involved but got canceled much too soon. The other one was 4400. But let's get back to "V"... Nice visual effects, good story writing, good character development and most of the actors are great. What do you need more? On the actors side I would especially mention Morena Baccarin. Just look how she plays with her mimic. She does so much and so little with her face at the same time - and then at the end of the first season that outburst! Wow! I think all characters started out very flat. But they're developing very quickly over the series into more complex, more authentic characters. Same happens with the story. The pilot was good. But the story needed to build. Again, very sad that it got canceled so soon. We'll probably never see the very end of the story. There is some small chance - Kenneth Johnson, the creator of the original series, still holds the right for a possible motion picture. Warner Brothers got only the rights for the series. But we seem to wander a bit here. Back to the "review"... I've seen the original series and know and love it a lot. You cannot really compare them I think. Different times - different style. It's really something new. But if you HAVE to compare them - the new "V" still looks good. Although there are two things that bother me... One is Joel Gretsch. He, well, he just looks so helpless and confused anytime in every series or movie. It's a matter of taste - but I don't like this actor. Sorry! The second one: They have cameras everywhere. Every alien suite got one - they have that media center where they can spy on everybody. But why the **** they don't have a camera inside the hall where all the thousands of baby soldiers are located? In general, they seem to have never a camera at hand when they really would need one. And - this may be a third one - why are the rebels able to operate and talk about everything in any room AND with any mobile phone without getting caught? Don't they install microphones on their ship when they already know that there are rebels on the ship? But at the end, it's entertainment. So, who cares? Well, that's all folks! All is left to say is sorry for that strange review, the series is absolutely worth watching and don't listen to me and make your own opinion! Cheers!
SnoopyStyle The aliens have come, and they say they want to be our friends. Anna (Morena Baccarin) is the face of the aliens. Lisa (Laura Vandervoort) is her daughter. Chad Decker (Scott Wolf) is a journalist who worms his way into a prime spot with the aliens. FBI agent Erica Evans (Elizabeth Mitchell) stumbles on some nefarious alien activity. Tyler Evans (Logan Huffman) is obsessed with the aliens ignoring his mother's warnings. Father Jack Landry (Joel Gretsch) is concerned about the aliens even thought the church hierarchy has accepted them wholeheartedly.Tyler is super annoying. Alien Anna is super creepy. And alien Lisa is super hot. As for the story, it is unrealistic to accept that the humans could fight back. Like the original, it is hard to write this believably. The production value is as good as they could make it for a TV show. But it is just too hard to achieve that grand scale. By the end of its 2 seasons run, there were too many unreasonable plot lines.
pelegosto264 I was very young when I watched the original "V" on the telly. I loved it back then, the aliens, lizards, eating the mice. So, when I discovered there was to be a remake of the old series, I was worried and excited at the same time. I was not disappointed about season 1 . It was not aired in my country, so had to get the DVD's. Glad I did, I could not stop watching. There is so much going on, and they don't seem to get any closer at defeating the enemy, it is all very surprising. Liked the cast, decent acting and some familiar faces in guest stars. It is not really sci-fi with space batles, beam me up stuff, but that might be why I like it. My wife found it to be a bit slow near the end (I disagree). Only thing I did not really like was the last character introduced in "Red Sky"(Season 1). There seems to be no reason for this woman to be there (just another "what the hey" moment). Season two starts a bit slow, but picks up speed halfway. It all gets very very exciting.... new plot lines are introduced, more action... and then it ends. It seems they could have made a nice finish with just four or so more episodes, but there are no more... Huge anticlimax. But overall, a very good show! Hope they consider making a short season three... television movie... anything to end this properly.
