Synopsis

The Secret World of Alex Mack is an American television series that ran on Nickelodeon from October 8, 1994 to January 15, 1998, replacing Clarissa Explains It All on the SNICK line-up. It also aired on YTV in Canada and NHK in Japan, and was a popular staple in the children's weekday line-up for much of the mid-to-late 1990s on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Repeats of the series aired in 2003 on The N, but it was soon replaced there. The series was produced by Thomas Lynch and John Lynch of Lynch Entertainment, produced by RHI Entertainment, Hallmark Entertainment and Nickelodeon Productions and was co-created by Tom Lynch and Ken Lipman. For home video releases, it was released under the Hallmark Home Entertainment label, making it the first Nickelodeon show not to be released by Paramount Home Video or Sony Wonder.

Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Lollivan It's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
Janae Milner Easily the biggest piece of Right wing non sense propaganda I ever saw.
Deanna There are moments in this movie where the great movie it could've been peek out... They're fleeting, here, but they're worth savoring, and they happen often enough to make it worth your while.
LoonRanger This is probably my favourite TV show ever. I love all the characters, especially Alex, who is the PERFECT woman! Always makes me laugh and feel good when I watch this show. There is just something about it that is amazing, hard to describe. It seems some or all of the episodes synchronise with music albums as well. Here are a few examples. (The episodes start again when they end - but DON'T play end credits until the very end, but always play the opening credits. With most the episodes the album plays once and the episodes play twice, but some go on further.)RADIOHEAD, PINK FLOYD, BOB Dylan.2.02 'Double bogey' Kid A / OK Computer (episode plays at least 4 times)2.14 'Saturn' Kid A / Meddle / Shot Of Love2.19 'World without Alex' Kid A / Wish You Were Here / Pablo Honey(episode plays at least 4 times)There are clues in the episodes which tell you which albums synchronise. Kid A may synchronise with EVERY episode!
Catherine_Grace_Zeh I used to watch this show when I was growing up. When I think about it, I remember it pretty well. If you ask me, it was a pretty good show. Anytime I think about it, I don't remember the opening sequence and theme song very well. In addition to that, everyone was ideally cast. Also, the writing was very strong. The performances were top-grade, too. I hope some network brings it back so I can see every episode. Before I wrap this up, I'd like to say that I'll always remember this show in my memory forever, even though I'm not sure if I've seen every episode. Now, in conclusion, if some network ever brings it back, I hope that you catch it one day before it goes off the air for good.
DHMagierXero Yeah. I remember this one... It was OK, like it was an interesting idea but,... They just didn't do it very well. The actress for Alex Mack was perfect but, the others could've been a lot better. The plot lines were OK for the time, but they probably should've made it more interesting. Like, having her fight crime or go for revenge against the chemical plant. And her powers were a bit unrealistic. I don't think she'd've gotten Physic stuff. The water-puddle makes sense because the Chemical Waste caused the powers, but the electric fingernails didn't make a lot of sense. All in all, it was the kind of show you watched for either one of two reasons: 1) Everything else was on rerun and you thought "Why Not?". or 2) The actress for Alex Mack. But, it was pretty good considering the time it was made in. I'd recommend buying it on DVD and watching it if the mood strikes.
willydefalco Where do I begin on explaining the greatness of this show. One of the things I like most about movies or tv shows is the fact when we can relate to said movie or tv show. "The Secret World of Alex Mack" does just that, enabling us to enter the world of a normal teenager thrown out of order due to a unique circumstance of Alex having superpowers. And in a way we can relate to it, because I'm quite certain that all of us in that period of our lives felt out of whack with the world and we all felt as if we were outsiders trying to fit in. We bond with Alex because she is contemplating thoughts and behavior that many of us have done during those periods. But enough about the symbolism of the show. What really made the show shine was the lead actress, Larisa Oleynik. Had it not been for her leading the show, I'm pretty sure that it would have been hard for the show to have the same quality as it did. Larisa brought such talented acting to the part, that I was surprised when I read that during most scenes she would memorize the lines about 20 minutes before the scene would be shot. If that doesn't tell you star quality acting I don't know what does. Another thing that made the show memorable were the storylines. One of my favorite episodes *SPOILER* was the one when the show took place during Christmas, and Alex was forced to take a job to try and help out with the Christmas chores. During the course of the show, she ends up saving a monkey just like herself in superpowers, or at least she thing she does, and later mourns and hopes that the monkey turned out alright, which he does. Then the episode ends with one of the most moving scenes from the series. Alex, after going through so much trouble in the episode, still wants peace and happiness for others by shining a peace sign in the night sky with her powers. She never thinks about herself, only about others. A classic episode. Tragically, the series ended all to early, I'm not sure whether due to Larisa calling it quits or to the all familiar low ratings. And then Nickelodeon about a few months ago took the show off of syndication in its channel, and since then I have not seen a single episode aired since. I only hope that one day Nickelodeon one day decides to open up a channel where they showcase old Nick shows, with "The Secret World of Alex Mack" being in them. Luckily for me I managed to audio tape record eight episodes, and to me they're worth gold. Here's hoping that other people find out about this show and realize that it was quite possibly one of the greatest tv shows ever.
