It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.

The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.

I am a great fan of the Monkey King movies and the stories. So, naturally I watched this, and can't wait for announcement of Season 2

All the cheesiness that I loved in the original show while growing up is alive & kicking here.. truly a show for fans but might not appeal as much to new audiences.. I'm loving it & hoping for a second season

For those of us who enjoyed the Japanese series of this Chinese tale (via the BBC) this stunningly Caucasian remake is an insult both to the source material and the intelligence of the audience. We're grownups now, we expect Chinese actors in Chinese roles, we aren't scared if they aren't European. It's a massively disrespectful and not even very well done. It's not like you got Johnny Depp in, so why not cast authentically? Production values are mediocre and that was just the first episode, I won't be watching the rest to be further appalled.

Right off the bat, this show reminded me in a lot of ways of Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules. Kind of the same type of vibe and tone, that's not a bad thing, but it makes the episodes kind of blend together. You can almost watch it in the background and not pay full attention to what is going on and still follow what's happening. Overall I enjoyed it. It's very easy viewing. The episodes are very short and it's entertaining. Truthfully, this is just the kind of show I've been searching for. Something I can throw on to kill 25min, that isn't too heavy on drama or seriousness. If you're a fan of either of those shows, this might just scratch that itch. I can't wait for Season 2.
