Reviews

Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Sexyloutak Absolutely the worst movie.
Kaelan Mccaffrey Like the great film, it's made with a great deal of visible affection both in front of and behind the camera.
Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
shatzbarry What a great series! What great memories! For a fifteen year old sophomore in high school to be able to see this series from the beginning was absolutely the best. The great opening, the stunning score, William Conrad's wonderful baritone voice, the prologue, the premise itself all set it apart from anything else on television at the time. Each episode created a climate of suspense and uncertainty I felt with no other show. I felt Kimble's emotions and feared with him that anywhere he went he was more likely to be surprised by Lt. Gerard than to find Fred Johnson. He lived in constant fear and I lived that fear with him. When each episode was over it wasn't over for me. I took each episode's emotions to bed with me and looked forward to the next week's adventure. Nothing showed Kimble's fear and vulnerability better than the first episode when at the bus depot his voice trembled and he admitted how he lived in fear of Gerard and looked for him everywhere he went. Nothing could have better set the standard for his fear of Gerard for the rest of the series. Now we have come to a very special anniversary. Although the series finale aired in August, 1967, the ending narration of William Conrad was "Tuesday September 5, THE DAY THE RUNNING STOPPED." We have now reached the fifty year anniversary of Dr. Kimble officially receiving his freedom. I have been looking forward to it if only to share it with other Fugitive fans who may have loved the series as much as I have.
bletcherstonerson T.V. doesn't get any better. This is not an overstatement nor is it false praise. This show had everything and dealt with it in a manner that was not handled with the normal pseudo intellectual writing other television shows made their mainstay. Understated and played with a gritty realism that would make any noir film envious. The greatest part about this show is the one that never gets mentioned by critics, or is missed by them is that the complete series is based on a chess game, the writers give a nod to the game of chess inadvertently and with subtle cues. Even in the last episode, there are 3 players left on the board. The performances by the supporting actors and the lead, Jansen are impeccable. If you need to get a feel for the show and aren't sure about whether or not this show is for you, watch episode 30,,"End Game". It is a good metric for the series. The nice points to this show are the camera work and the music, along with writing that is smart and honest, you won't find feel good clichés or wacky characters for comic relief, just high wire suspense. I could binge watch this series from beginning to end, if there was a way to do it. You can find episodes on VHS, or on Youtube, but there is no DVD collection. I have looked everywhere and I am just amazed that the greatest show that ever aired was never preserved or capitalized for a new audience. The movie with Harrison Ford was a weak sister and a pale imitation to this cinematic art. The show dealt with issues of race, class disparity, homelessness, the media, poor parenting, and yes, even a subtle nod to the LGBT issues. The main lesson that the viewer walks away from after viewing this show is the illusion of projecting ones own view of reality and the misconceptions that arise from that. This show is so layered that its a chess game 14 moves out. Made in 1964 this program was years ahead of the television programming that airs today.
StuOz Richard Kimble is on the run from the law and he encounters all sorts of people and situations in his 120 episode adventure. To me, this is one of the hardest shows in the world to review so if my review does not make total sense to you...I am sorry.Firstly, I love sister series QM's The Invaders (1967-68), in fact that show is in my Top Ten TV Show list. QM's The Fugitive is not in my Top Ten but I still love it. Since the mid-1990s I have returned to it with repeat viewings of several episodes. But some episodes are not worthy of repeat viewings...because they are dull. Part of the problem with "Fug" is that many episodes are more about the guest characters than Kimble himself. It was sometimes 40% Kimble and 60% guests. That is all good and well if you like the guest characters (which I often did) but if you were turned off someone for whatever reason that creates a problem.I am trying to say the series was a bit hit and miss. But when it missed it was never bad. When this show hit it often blew me away with top acting from all, wonderful guest characters, outstanding music (sometimes lifted from Twilight Zone or The Outer Limits) , epic looking location filming, grand 1960s cars all over the place, great scripts and variety in locations. To me, the series often shined most when it did a more unusual story. Season one's The End Game actually had mild comedy going for once! Season three's Conspiracy Of Silence had the US military making trouble for Kimble. Season four's Second Sight had Kimble go blind with Outer Limits music scoring his tragedy. Also, some of the Gerard episodes were very good as well, for example The End Game and Season four's The Ivy Maze and The Judgement.Because the series was so flooded with guest stars a lesser episode could sometimes hold you because you could catch some favourite 1960s actor in a small or big role. And finally, if you are a fan of 1960s sci-fi shows like The Time Tunnel, Land Of The Giants, The Outer Limits and QM's The Invaders...you will find a bit of all of those shows in QM's The Fugitive. In a nutshell, I don't view "Fug" as one of the very greats of TV...but for whatever reason I just can't get enough of it. Thanks.
chris b An unforgettable series. I relish every episode that is ever transmitted.Personally,I liked the film, but there's no comparison to the original series. The episodes were classic ... that familiar voice of the narrator "The Fugitive!..A QM Production..Starring David Jansenn as Dr Richard Kimble, an innocent victim of blind justice..." Ah settle back & prepare to be lost for the next 50mins. The attempt at making another series in 2000 failed- Shame, I mean anything would be better than nothing, & it seemed OK, well not bad (Had none of the swallow-up quality of the original series, though). I've been looking high & low for it on DVD, but I'm rather sceptical of what the quality would be like from some unknown sellers who are apparently offering the whole series. However ! The Fugitive - Season 1, Volume 1 is according to TV SHOWS ON DVD site, meant to be officially released on 14th August 07. They say CBS/Paramount have confirmed this. I'm onto Amazon.UK now in the hope that they will be importing it !
