CommentsXp Best movie ever!
Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Robert Joyner The plot isn't so bad, but the pace of storytelling is too slow which makes people bored. Certain moments are so obvious and unnecessary for the main plot. I would've fast-forwarded those moments if it was an online streaming. The ending looks like implying a sequel, not sure if this movie will get one
Richard Smith I have noticed that a few other reviews have been commenting on how people south of the border (the English) will not relate too or understand this Scottish comedy? However I am an Englishman living on the south coast of England (which is probably as far south as you can get from Scotland on mainland Britain) and I am an absolute Still Game fanatic! I have been brought up on virtually all of the British gems of the comedy world i.e Only Fools & Horses, Men behaving badly, Open all Hours, Porridge e.t.c so I was therefore a little surprised and sceptical when my best mate recommended a Scottish comedy called Still Game which hardly anyone in England had heard of, including me. One episode later and I was hooked! For me Still Game in terms of humour was not worlds apart from virtually all the other British Comedies whether they originated from the South or North of the border, I could personally see elements of humour & comedy that could appeal to fans of 'Only Fools & Horses' right the way through to fans of 'Men behaving badly' and all the other comedies in between.Next to the humour, the acting is superb with clever story lines and quotes that define it as a true gem. I only wish I could have followed this sitcom from the very beginning but unfortunately for some reason or another Still Game was never aired on English primetime TV (which seemed a bit stupid seeing as how England accounts for most of the BBC's viewers).
glitterkitty i love Still Game, and recently got my boyfriend loving it too! we are from the north-east of england, so its pretty easy to understand the Scottish dialect and humour, cause its not too different from us! i can see how people further south would have trouble though. I know that Kiernan and Hemphill didn't actually come up with the idea for the programme themselves, just paid a whole load of money to some french writers for their programme, so i'd like to see the original french version!!! I love all the characters, especially Isa - she's hilarious!!! I have just bought the 1-6 and specials boxset. I have seen all the series before on TV apart from 6 and the specials, so i hope i'm in for a treat!! My favourite episodes are 'Oot' "a TV in an envelope!" and the one with Boaby's 'adult' movie!!!!!
Deputy_Dog Got to be the best laugh on TV since Red Dwarf. This is a refreshingly welcome comedy that had me rolling in stitches I thought I'd split open. With the drivel that is plaguing our screens for last few years, such as My Family or The IT Crowd to name but two, Still Game brings us right back to the standard of Fools And Horses. Here you'll find that like comedies such as Fools and Horses or Dads Army the characters are as important to the comedy as is the script. Thank God for Scottish humour.I wish I'd known about this in the first series instead of the third, now I'll have to see if my sides can take watching them on DVD.
j_f_burn I'm a relative new comer to Still Game - have joined in watching the current Series (5) on BBC2, which ended it's run tonight. I find it to be an excellent show which doesn't take itself too seriously. The characters (Jack, Victor, Winston, Tam, etc) have lots of depth and are entirely believable in the way they approach life. As someone said in an earlier comment - these guys are 60/70 going on 20. It proves that when you become an older person, you don't have to become a miserable old so and so ! As an Englishman (and a Geordie) - I don't have any problem tying in with the Scottish SoH, and if people from 'down south' don't get the show, then that's their problem. Stick to your cockney rhyming slang on EastEnders.Looking forward to series 6 of Still Game. 'Mon Jack and Victor !
