Synopsis

A supernatural thriller set in South Carolina, South Of Hell focuses on Maria Abascal (Suvari), a stunning demon-hunter-for-hire whose power stems from within. Like those she hunts, Maria is divided within herself, struggling with her own demon, Abigail, who resides inside of her, feeding on the evil Maria exorcises from others. Maria and Abigail share a soul and a destiny, but as Maria desperately tries to overtake Abigail, she will discover how far Abigail will go to remain a part of her.

Cubussoli Very very predictable, including the post credit scene !!!
Artivels Undescribable Perfection
FeistyUpper If you don't like this, we can't be friends.
Senteur As somebody who had not heard any of this before, it became a curious phenomenon to sit and watch a film and slowly have the realities begin to click into place.
triggergotstuffed I do like Mena Suvari. I also like Eli Roth. But I also like a good story and South of Hell unfortunately, does not offer one.I watched the first 3 episodes and could not take anymore. Maybe it's me but there was not a single character that I wanted to spend another episode with. There are so many better shows out there to spend time with. There is a voice-over for almost each entire episode that does not add value to the story and there was a lack of character development. The one thing that I did find interesting was that the first scene of the premiere episode felt like it dropped you into the middle of a scene. It caught me off guard as I thought maybe I had missed a previous episode. This was an original opening or at least one that I had not seen before. Unfortunately, that was it for originality.Do yourself a favour and bypass this as I don't think anyone will find it worth their while to spend approximately 6 hours of their life watching this.
Martin Freznell Tedious Melodrama with some demonic serving on top. It has the back and fort circular tragic nonsense copy pasted from the pulp series Supernatural. Except it tries to be the dark and profound version of that forgettable pleasure, forgoing any humour or light pop corn moments the series might have had. No monsters, no lore: a single multi layered tragedy that doesn't captivate. It tries to be a dark and sinister crawl, gives up on that around episode 4 and then bashes your brain pan in with repetitive junk. You'd best skip this one.
mksmith1 South of Hell could be a real winner with an increased production budget. The storyline is interesting and the show could easily become as big a hit as Supernatural. It's a shame WEtv didn't see the possibilities for the 1st season. I will give WEtv credit for stepping out and taking a chance on a non cookie cutter TV show. Maybe, next seasons production budget will allow the director to carry the show to greater heights. With so many shows of the past that went in a different direction only to later become SyFy icons, like "Firefly" but were killed off before the people had a chance to become fans. South of Hell looks to be a pop-icon in the making, we can only hope WEtv can have the foresighted vision and give the SyFy fans the warm up time they always need.
Joseph Godfrey It's fairly rare I anticipate a film or a series that perfectly fails in all areas. You gather together a recognizable producer (Jason Blum), director (Eli Roth) and lead star (Mena Suvari) solely on a WEtv budget and you get something no one cared about creating. The shame in this is that the plot device has a fairly decent idea; A possessed woman that uses her inner demon powers to hunt, destroy/exorcise other demons. Sure it's basically recycled material, but I had assumed the South Carolina backdrop would have added a nice touch."CHEAP" is the easiest word for this series. It feels cheap right out of the gate with the poor editing cuts, bland voice-over and unremarkable dialogue. You present a southern dialect and yet there isn't a single success in faking the easiest accent in the US. I've heard Northerners confuse southern pronunciations with one another; South Carolina & a thick Cajun Louisiana are distinct to the common ear, but Mena Suvari refused any attempt at authenticity. Her character sounds like she's from Rhode Island. That's just lazy. You could hope that the series would be another "so bad it's good" premise. Maybe inject a little humor into this hopeless flush down the genre toilet, but the whole series was dumped out all-at-once on Black Friday. It forced me to consider, "WEtv must have wanted to get rid of this as quickly as possible." ... as no second season is expected.
