Hellen I like the storyline of this show,it attract me so much
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Rio Hayward All of these films share one commonality, that being a kind of emotional center that humanizes a cast of monsters.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
ricochet93-369-308802 Gripping, unflinching, no holds barred look at life on the inside. It's not for the faint of heart. Brilliant and intriguing characters. Unfortunately it ended way too soon.Would love them to revive Oz.
Siberian Khatru POSSIBLE MILD SPOILERS! But nothing outright is said:I've never binged-watched a show this fast, this show is absolutely fantastic, especially considering it's a show that basically only takes place in like 6 rooms of a prison...here's my one gripe about the show: probably 85% of what happens in the story lines could have been avoided or solved quickly if this prison had SECURITY CAMERAS! This must be the only prison in the US that has no security cameras anywhere. Oh, there's been like 20 murders in the gym over the years? Well we better not put a security camera in there! Guns and drugs and fights and killings constantly keep showing up and happening in a certain corner of the cell block? Lets not install a camera there! The food keeps getting poisoned and people keep getting their throat slit in the kitchen? Nah, a security camera would be a dumb idea to install! Like I said though, besides that one glaring fact this show is amazing. It's pretty brutal, the acting is fantastic, and while there is man on man action at times, it's never usually too involved and the scenes last for a moment (I mention this for the people who are squeamish about this). It is also great as there are so many actors and music stars in their younger years who show up throughout the series (like the priest from Walking Dead and you see his pee-pee), as well as some great veteran character actors who always played great scumbags. I highly recommend this show.
mattiasflgrtll6 That's right. This show is so fantastic there are no words which make it justice!Right from the very first episode, there is a LOT going on, and many reasons why the next episode is worth watching. Conflicts are introduced which are built upon in the next episode, and new conflicts then arise in THAT episode. Sometimes as a result of the PREVIOUS conflicts. That's how complex this show is, the heat is in the air the whole time. The writing is AMAZING. You never can be certain of what will happen next and the dialogue ranges from witty or darkly hilarious to intense or very heartbreaking. A lot of episodes among all the violence and scumbags contain interesting messages about life. Every episode has a theme; it could be revenge, sex, love, drugs... These are presented with the narration by this show's moral centerpiece Augustus Hill. And still, he's not perfect himself. All of the characters have their own flaws which this series present excellently. The characters are MANY, but somehow this show manages to make almost every one of them fascinating in some way. Even those who appear in only one single episode can make you attached to the screen and anticipated over what will happen with him next (it's USUALLY a him, it's a prison full of males after all). Just when you think you know how someone is like, that character can go through things which radically alter their behavior. Even the most innocent of people can suddenly flip. Among my favorites are Tobias Beecher (the closest thing to a main character), Vern Schillinger, Tim McManus, Kareem Said, Father Ray Mukada, Simon Adebisi, Omar White... There are just too damn many, man! There are all sorts of people to get invested by, and the writers respect character development to such a point that you rarely feel like someone is one-dimensional.Taboo subjects are touched upon, such as racism, homophobia, rape, drug abuse among other things. You will find at least 10 people here who either holds these opinions or has done any of the latter stuff. Despite what is said to be a maximum security level, Oz is a rat maze! You have to look around the corner, be suspicious about everyone. Somebody could act like your best friend just to later brutally execute you. Sure it occasionally gets unrealistic and even a bit convoluted (Aging pills? An unconscious body which disappears without explanation?) but it's easy to overlook since there's always something to keep my eyes on. It never gets so distracting that I become angry and turn it off. Oh no, boy. My eyes are glued to the screen even more than Charlie Sheen is addicted to sex.Everything is mesmerizing. Hell, it even has one of the best theme songs of all time! The cinematography as well, it's shockingly impressive! I especially have to praise Alex Zakrzewski, who is the most frequent director of photography. Give the man an award already! To say this show is a must-see would be an understatement. If you've never seen Oz, you haven't completed your life. Breathtaking television.
WalterSoprano This Show is unbelievably addictive. It all started less than a month ago when I found the pilot for free on youtube. I was immensely into the show in the first episode and didn't want to stop. Two weeks later I bought and watched the complete first season. The next next week currently this week I have also bought and completely watched seasons 2 and 3. There is only one other time I binged as much as I have and that is with my favorite show of all time. And only twice have I been hooked this fast In a show and this is the third time. The acting, story, dialogue, and way of storytelling are just a few of the things that I love about this show. The fact that this show has only been nominated for 2 Emmys shocks me very much so and shocks me even more that it hasn't even won an Emmy either. Another thing I love about this show is that it doesn't shy away from things it is very much so daring as well. This show also does something that very few shows I can think of has done and that is make a complex show so easy to follow and understand. Sure the prison life and some other minor things are exaggerated but If they didn't stretch the truth the show wouldn't be as enjoyable. There are other things I could state as far as what I love about this show but I believe I have said enough. As for you the reader I highly recommend this show but also take warn this show is not for those of weak stomachs but if you don't your in for a treat.
