Synopsis

Construction company owner John Matthews learns that his estranged son, Jason, has been arrested for drug trafficking. Facing an unjust prison sentence for a first time offender courtesy of mandatory minimum sentence laws, Jason has nothing to offer for leniency in good conscience. Desperately, John convinces the DEA and the opportunistic DA Joanne Keeghan to let him go undercover to help make arrests big enough to free his son in return. With the unwitting help of an ex-con employee, John enters the narcotics underworld where every move could be his last in an operation that will demand all his resources, wits and courage to survive.

GrimPrecise I'll tell you why so serious
Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
juneebuggy I'd never heard of this movie before, not sure how I missed it but I was initially excited because the story sounded interesting with a poster that promised lots of action and I like Dwayne Johnson, Barry Pepper and Shane (I mean Jon Bernthal). It ended up being a decent enough drama but not at all what I was expecting. The story itself is sort of plodding and slow and not fun in any way -also not action filled until the last bullet riddled car/big-rig chase scene. The Rock does give one of his more thoughtful performances though (reminding me of Faster) and its been based on an intriguing true story.Johnson plays an everyday guy here, a construction company owner and desperate father who goes undercover for the DEA to infiltrate a drug cartel in order to lessen his sons (mandatory) 10 year prison sentence after he gets wrongly accused of trafficking drugs in a set up drug deal.Jon Bernthal was super impressive as the ex-con employee 'John' convinces to be his "in" to the drug underworld. Barry Pepper also wowed in another character role and is almost unrecognizable as an undercover FBI narcotics officer. Michael K. Williams stays true to The Wire typecasting as Malik the drug dealer and Susan Sarandon was a surprise bit of casting as a hard-hitting DA.All in an okay movie, nothing outstanding or particularly memorable. 1/11/16
adonis98-743-186503 Snitch gives us a different Dwayne Johnson which is great but the film lacks action which it's not that big of a deal but when you have a tall muscular dude and you turn him into a chicken then we have a problem there are many other actors in the past who went from action heroes to family men and yet they still killed a lot of people or kicked some ass but in this case it's not the same since it's inspired by true events. The rest of the cast did also a good job and the film is directed and produced in a good way if you can handle 2 or 3 problems that it has you will probably like it a lot. I give it a 9 out of 10 it's a good movie and Johnson kills it.
torstensonjohn Compelling, gripping, magnetic characters, invested, these are words that can only best describe this film in it's entirety. Ric Roman Waugh brings this based on true events story to life and gives the audience a superb ride. Dwayne Johnson has strongly developed his acting ability as Business owner and family man John Matthews. The performance is well played out and shows good emotion and raw talent. In a supporting role Jon Bernthal (Shane-Walking Dead) portrays an ex con Daniel James who gets wrapped back into the life through developments of John's actions. These two actors played terrific off one another. Susan Sarandon's character of a high no BS politician with an agenda is done with vigor and tenacity. The surprise here is a supporting role by Barry pepper as an FBI agent who comes across hard but fair and plays rather compelling to the plot line. This film truly is a testament as to just how far a person will go when it comes to family and the risks they are willing to take.
CMTiago Snitch is a project in which Dwayne Johnson isn't an unstoppable kick ass hero. In fact the movie goes a long way to portray his character as a simple working man that finds himself in a world he doesn't necessarily belong in order to save his teenage son Jason from going to prison. I think that Johnson showcased his talent as an actor, proving that he has what it takes to sell dramatic tension to the audience. The action is a little toned down in this movie to a lesser extent, but then again I believe that the focal point of the movie was the characters and their motivations. Alongside The Rock, Jon Bernthal brings his usual intensity to Daniel James, the man who introduces John Matthews (Johnson) to the the drug world, and Susan Sarandon is good in a small part. Overall Snitch is a surprisingly well constructed movie that proves that The Rock can do drama and be quite good at it. It is very much worth a look.Rating 7/10
