Reviews

TrueHello Fun premise, good actors, bad writing. This film seemed to have potential at the beginning but it quickly devolves into a trite action film. Ultimately it's very boring.
Catangro After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.
Mathilde the Guild Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.
Fleur Actress is magnificent and exudes a hypnotic screen presence in this affecting drama.
phd_travel Just finished the whole series on DVD and have to say it wasn't worth the time. Teenager Lux who has been in foster care finds her birth parents. The first season drags. Then the end of the second season is melodramatic and rushed to a quick ending to tie things up when they knew the series was going to be cancelled. There isn't enough humor. Lux annoyingly gets into silly messes and comes across and ungrateful and irritating. Now and then they deal with the issues of foster care but it's not very interestingly done.Britt Robertson (Lux) is sweet has luckily gone on to Secret Circle which is a better show. Shiri Appleby (Cate) isn't suited to the role as Lux's mother and comes across and difficult and self destructive like her daughter. That's why the happy ending tacked on doesn't gel. Kerr Smith as Ryan, Cate's love interest hasn't had an easy time finding roles after leaving Dawson's creek - the problem with playing gay characters. He looks a little worried throughout and his character's storyline is strange and haphazard. Kristoffer Polaha is quite suited to his role as Base, Lux's bar owner father who has to grow up and face his responsibilities. The other characters are annoying like Emma and Nate's father.Don't know why so many shows (like this and Pretty Little Liars) are featuring kids in love with their teachers. Surely it's not a good example for young girls to emulate.Overall a waste of time.
abovethestars I had doubts to, especially because not every show with so great reviews turn out to fulfill your expectation. In fact, I have whatched many shows with overrating reviews (in my opinion) and thought that this was going to be just like one of them. And the plot seemed only good, not great. So, I had doubts, but i gave it a try and I am so glad that I did. I didn't expect so much from this, but man I was wrong! I cant describe how good this really is. I have whached like every show there is. The good ones, the overrated ones, the funny ones, the weird ones, shows in almost every category, but this, this is beautiful. it is really one of a kind! It's not like all other shows, and i don't like that it is even comparable with Gilmore Girls(it sure is, don't know why) because that show is none of my great ones, i think GilmoreGirls is kind of silly, I haven't seen Juno yet but I imagine that it wont make it justice either. Im not going to describe what 'Life unexpected'is about, because everyone has already done that, but I am going to explain what makes it so great. It is genuine, it is simple and real. The actors are great. You feel with the girl, like you're in her shoes, and all the other character as well, you share their sorrow, their happiness, their confusness, their struggle. It is a heartwarming show which has a bit of everything in it. I find it a bit sad, but all the happy moment and all the funny ones change the whole picture, it is not that sad, in fact, it is a real life kind of story and it have the ups and downs and i love that about it, it is simply beautiful. I am so glad that i found this show, but also so sad that it got cancelled. When it died out a piece of my heart died to. It is really one of a kind and i promise that you will love it, just like I do.
Mike1388 I remembered how excited everyone is when Life Unexpected premiere, some may have said it as the new Gilmore Girls! The first season of this series led to a promise, a promise that we may again be given a heartwarming TV.. but, before we can even blink the show is canceled. The second season consist of bad writing, miss-hit choices and characters. The lead character, Lux has turned out to be most annoying teenage character portrayed on TV! I personally think this is sad, Lux character had so many potential but alas! she is soon to be forgettable.Other characters such as Cate and Ryan, which is known as the couple that we root for, turned out to be a mess, giant pile of crap that I don't feel sorry for. And yes, who can forget oh-so-young Eric? or maybe the Trey story line that seems a bit forced? I understand Liz Tigelaar (creator) tried hard to bring 'spicy' stories into the board, but that was a mistake. I'm not saying she is a bad writer, heck she did create a good first season but who knows what's gotten into her with the second? How could she pick up something good and dip it into dirt? The only 'sane' character in the show is Baze, he was the sole survivor.I love all the actors, yes that includes Britt Robertson, she is a good actress (not great, sorry) and I think she did justice to Lux character as intended by the writer. And who doesn't love Roswell darling, Shiri Appleby as the neurotic 'new' mom? She look stunning by age. The two male lead, Smith and Polaha did wonderful.Frankly, I was disappointed by the way they handle Emma Caulfield (Hey Anya!) character, it was painful to see. It is quite clear why CW canceled the show, but again why such horrid writing to begin with? I firmly believe TV series rely heavily on the writer's hand, if you want a long-lived show, write smart!
chimeskd Found this show on Netflix. Watched both seasons in 3 days. I was hooked from episode 1. I cried on almost every episode in season 1. This is not your typical family/teen drama (which I usually don't watch). I loved all the characters and the actors/actresses were excellent. You really believed the roles and the story line. In some ways it made me take a step back and look at my family...appreciating everything that we have even more! This show makes you think. It makes you feel. It makes you cry (a lot) but it also filled with humor. Give it a chance, an open mind, and you'll be hooked...even for the 2 episodes it offers.I just wish they hadn't canceled the show which led to a rushed ending. Watching this story unfold would've have been a great love affair! Well, at least now I can focus on cleaning my house instead! =)--Addicting--
