Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Steineded How sad is this?
Staci Frederick Blistering performances.
dcollins-30754 Well crafted, well acted, well shot, well it's just about everything except exciting. it's All drama with a chuckle, but slow paced. T'was into the story but it just didn't bounce enough for this viewer. I'll put that on the director(s). Anyway, slow is everywhere on the screen these days...ain't nobody got time for that :)
croixbleau This might have been the most enjoyable television so far seen in 2017.I really enjoyed Master of None, but this Chris O'Dowd actor made me want to see this series. Now, the SO and I watched -- not easy as it's only on epics --- every episode. Really, really looking forward to the next. And the next. And so on and so forth. You may begin to watch the series for Chris O'Dowd but you stay to watch Sean Bridgers. They both, and I mean both, are smartly and deftly played. I cannot tell if it's the direction, the actor, happenstance or all three, but it's worth every minute. Of course Lidia Porto has a role that no one will ever forget, either. Its a total of 10 episodes and you definitely want to begin with episode one. I let the SO begin somewhere afterwards and it only made us need to begin with episode one. So, if you tried to watch this in any other order than by one first, go back and watch one. You have to.That being said the charm rarely lets up and it's like a 10. Until...until...episode 10. Where it kinds of messes the bed. Not a bad mess mind you, just some duty where clean sheets ought to be. Maybe they think they are going to return for season 2? Maybe they ran out of ideas? In any event the finale is OK, just, not perfect.Perhaps when season II rolls out, we'll get that fixed. Enjoy
Charles Herold (cherold) While most of the user reviews here love this show, I found the series opener slow and dull. The basic idea of a thug looking for a career change becoming a Hollywood producer is a good one, but the plot unfolds slowly and the series is more funny in theory than practice. It's perhaps not fair to compare the series with the movie, since star Chris O'Dowd is not playing the same character as John Travolta played in the movie and the series bills itself as "loosely based" on the book. But the important thing is not that Chris Dowd plays a different character, but that his sad-sack killer cannot hold one's attention the way Travolta did. I like Dowd in general, but I don't find him interesting here.Instead of slowly pulling me in, I felt the pilot was pushing me out; by the end I was desperate to move on.
cicerobuck I won't give this a ten, since they could still fumble his up. But. One season in, 8 episodes, 7 hours 20 minutes in, and we have 2017's best new series. I came in this with no expectations, and this little show has been a constant joy and a must-see/top-of-the-pile amongst all Sunday shows.Sure there was this nice little movie from the mid 90ies based on the same Leonard story, but this is next level : great if not amazing acting from underused actors, great balance between dark comedy and lightness, mostly acceptable violence, very cool and unusual characters, the plot constantly surprises with supposedly great ideas systematically getting south, etc... It's quirky, entertaining, extremely well acted (Sean Bridgers is getting the role of his life with his mormon hired hand assassin turned on-stage screen writer!), charming, and it always leaves you wanting for more. Also, there's no character that is really annoying, and there's a variety of them.Along with The Deuce and the Handsmaid Tale, the best new show I've seen all year, and maybe the best show of them all, at the very least the one that I look the most forward returning.
