Intcatinfo A Masterpiece!
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
Tymon Sutton The acting is good, and the firecracker script has some excellent ideas.
rochelle-rochelle This sitcom is basically a half-hearted attempt to copy Larry Charles in Curb Your Enthusiasm. Kirstie fails miserably. Every episode shows her stuffing her face and not even TRYING to lose weight. Watching it I'm wondering, what am I doing watching this loser of a show? It's not what it claims to be because Kirstie "gets work" even as a fat actress. Fact is, it's a man's world and there is no way around it. Men can be ugly, fat, balding, flat-butt, short, whatever, and we accept it. However, fat women are DISGUSTING on film and the last thing a viewer wants to see is a fat woman EATING compulsively on TV. This show is disgusting, not even funny and should be canceled. That being said, Rachael Harris is awesome. She carries the show. The time she smoked crack from Kirstie's brother was hilarious. And her comments as Kirstie and others are talking are spot on and hilarious. Now, I would LOVE to see HER get her own show. But to Kirstie - if you are going to star in your own show - be original. You are just a "showtime" "subpar" version of Curb Your Enthusiasm. You aren't funny.
cerodwen This show is a reality show depicting Kirstie Alley's search (as an overweight woman) for a job as an actress in a movie or a TV show as an overweight woman. Although she is famous and beautiful, she faces size discrimination at every job she applies for - except weight loss commercials. Kirstie is brave and strong in the face of this discrimination, and she does a wonderful job setting the stage for the entrance of fat women onto the Hollywood screen. This show is funny and thought provoking. Its take on eating, body acceptance, and human relationships is a breath of fresh air. In addition, it's good to see a voluptuous women like Kirstie as a main character of a show instead of the "funny sidekick" or throwaway bit part. This show is a breakthrough, and I hope to see a second season.
Lyrictoo I can't believe the talented Ms. Alley has put herself in the same plane as Anna Nicole Smith or that Showtime canceled Dead Like Me for this very silly and stupid show. This show can't go off the air fast enough for me. While I do understand it may have fans I myself find it a waste of TV viewing space and wonder about the intelligence of the powers that be that let it be placed on TV in the first place. Showtime's lineup has not had the same caliber shows as HBO and they continue to prove why they will never beat HBO in quality or savvy. As for Ms. Alley one can only hope this is a stage she is going through and she will put herself back into smart, witty, and fun projects that gave her her stardom in the first place.
mboboc I was expecting a lot more from this show, considering Kirstey's potential, as proved in previous movies and/or shows. The fact that the current show seems to be flopping may be connected to the fact that the actress plays a similar (yet maybe more rewarding monetarily) role in dieting commercials. In other words, these commercials could be perceived as a very condensed version of the show .... so spare some time by watching them instead.Someone asked how come this show got the OK. I do have to ask the same question, as the reason behind accepting this show is not all clear. Does it really bring anything new to the table? Not quite. Pretty soon we could all install Webcams and film ourselves doing whatever it is that we are doing "in the privacy of our own lives" (so much for privacy, really).
