Guillelmina The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
aelwynpborst The most boring piece of crap that has ever graced the television genre. It seems to only be liked by people that are childhood-biased. they CLEARLY haven't re-watched the show since they were seven!!! I wonder how in the heck this is considered a "90's classic"! It's LITERALLY the most unoriginal heap of garbage I have ever seen!

lloydnash222 The first Nicktoons show to premiere in Nickelodeon in the early '90s, Doug revolves around the eponymous protagonist who experiences many events in his new home in Bluffington, where his family moved to after his father had a job promotion as a photographer. Doug usually faces many challenges, predicaments, and dilemmas that an average preteen can relate to, writing all his events in his journal. Among the characters are his faithful dog Porkchop, his sister Judy who is obsessed with Shakespeare, best friend Skeeter, his love interest Patti, his nemesis Roger, and his eccentric next-door neighbor Mr. Dink. What makes this show so great is that even though it's supposed to be realistic, it also balances out with a few quirks and crazy antics. Also, Doug's imaginations are very complex. He could have positive, negative, and even hilarious thoughts of impending situations. Recently, I never understood why this show has been given negative ratings all of a sudden. It was a show that reflects on our childhood and teaches us life lessons. It doesn't deserve any of the hate it receives nowadays. IMO, it's the best show on Nickelodeon of all time, that and Rocko's Modern Life, another personal favorite of mind. The Disney version of this show, however, is just awful.
insomniac_rod Man! I loved this show. I couldn't wait watching it on Nickelodeon every Friday until it went off air. This cartoon, to be honest, helped me a lot as a pubert mainly because it displayed real situations but in a tender and funny manner at the same time. Thus, it helped me confront the aforementioned situations. Doug had the life of a normal boy but of course, lived exciting and colorful adventures: he had a best friend, a crush, love caring parents, dealt with bullies, weird teachers, and more situations. This show should be watched by puberts and teens overall because it always delivers a moral through a funny manner. It also made fun of social situations and even pop culture. This was a very complete cartoon. I remember it with nostalgia.
