BeSummers Funny, strange, confrontational and subversive, this is one of the most interesting experiences you'll have at the cinema this year.
Ava-Grace Willis Story: It's very simple but honestly that is fine.
Ezmae Chang This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
jm-40101 This show illustrates and has excellent, wonderful values and morals. The plots are unique and it contains catchy songs. Great incorporation of Spanish and very well animated, likable characters. Really appreciate how Dora and her friends help out those who may be less fortunate. The characters prioritize helping others rather than silly, superficial objectives. All friends work really well as a team helping those that may be less fortunate and respecting their elders (e.g., their grandparents). The show also contains funny, intelligent references to modern culture (e.g., stopping la Diva as she does not allow anyone else to make music). The characters are diverse and again work really well together despite obstacles or preferences which may surface. The animation is top-notch and very colorful. This is our daughter and our favorite show for our 11 month old daughter. (We also love Team Umizoomi for similar reasons)...
ymiri When the news came out saying that they were gonna bring Dora back, but that they were gonna re make her, making her older. I had mix feelings about it, specially after I saw the picture of the new older Dora. But I wanted to think that it was all for the better, and that kids that grew up watching Dora get to have an older Dora. After watching the show with my 2 year old little girl, who prefers to see this new Dora, I can say that all in all is an OK show. Is simple and to the point, lots of singing, which is what must kids are in to now days. I also love the diversity of Dora's friends. They all look so different and have different hobbies. I can't wait to see what more
practicallypeach Well...at least Dora only yells at us half of the time instead of constantly like when she was younger. That's pretty much where the compliments end from me.Talk about toothless. You add 7 years to Dora and nothing changes. You still have have silly premises. You still have 3 obstacles. And you still have that 4th wall-breaking moment where the characters address the audience and ask for help. You'd think Dora would take up loftier goals now that she's grown up a bit. If you can't tell by now, I hate this show with a passion. I hate any show that dumbs down adults so much so that the heroes can actually have some actual relevance. But this is Dora. If you actually need Dora's help, your a creature of myth. This is why the Dora the Explorer worked (kinda...). It's a king-among-retards scenario. We're shaving some serious numbers off of ones IQ. The adults are petty, short sighted, barely functional and need Dora and her friends to tell them that banning dancing, all music that isn't Opera, or fun in general is just not right. And all through the magic of song! So while every other adult is sitting on their hands sulking, blowing spit bubbles, and feeling sorry for themselves, Dora is actually doing something about things...in the most ridiculous ways a teenager(?) can.
Dave K soooo....the songs and premise are plain awful and it really feels like the writers mailed this one in. I'm still trying to figure out how the city comes into play, because the majority of the time they're in some fictitious land doing the same things that football shaped head Dora does. Whats the difference? The lessons are the same but each show feels like it was written 15 minutes before the deadline...One song, for example "...was a pirate, a very good pirate, and by the I mean a pirate who was good..." Fairly certain that a good pirate is a complete oxymoron as the definition of piracy is robbing and illegal violence at sea. (dictionary.com). While I'm pleased to see older Dora's head is shaped less like Stewie and she appears to have made friends with actual humans, I think this is a cheap version of the original Dora the Explorer series.
