Don't listen to the Hype. It's awful

Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.

Blistering performances.

A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.

Like just about every British program I watch this was outstanding. Love the characters and the scripts. Sad it's not more than 6 series.

Just watched the two-part first episode, Aftermath. I simply can't believe anyone, anywhere would think this show bore any resemblance to reality.
Banks is a ferret faced mess skittering around like a 15 year old with the keys to a Ferrari, yet is supposed to be a seasoned, ranking detective? The plot was laughable in its assumptions, every scene involved suspending disbelief in one form or another. People just do not react or behave as depicted here.Worst of all, you're asked to accept something that could never happen in the first place, then have the whole plot built on top of that. Maybe I should try to jump to another season. This was a cringe-fest.

I really enjoyed the character development in this series. Great actors and stories that are relevant to today's headlines. Thanks for a great binge series. I just hate it when it ends in only 5 seasons.

To be clear, I thoroughly enjoy British detective stories and I enjoy the DCI Banks series. I have the last four episodes of the final season to go. However, I keep waiting - and here comes the cliff hanger - for Banks and the writers to address the unresolved issue of relationships in the work place. Will my concern be alleviated in the last four episodes? If I were to guess, I'd say the answer is no.
