ThiefHott Too much of everything
Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Gutsycurene Fanciful, disturbing, and wildly original, it announces the arrival of a fresh, bold voice in American cinema.
Neive Bellamy Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.
dfadcock This is a poorly disguised apology for the treatment of aborigines aired by the Australian Broadcasting Company. Not much subtlety here at all. The ABC is yet again attempting to denigrate Australia's achievements. By calling the aborigines hairies and setting it in a not too distant dystopian future it hopes to attract interest amongst the science fiction followers out there. But it is not a science fiction series, the genre is more political and cultural, and not very good drama at that.
Luis Morais One shouldn't be surprised with the low ratings and scathing reviews coming from the wading, whining crowd of neanderthals with a TV who came across this series hoping that Australia kept quiet about the mistakes of past and present and was portrayed as the racial democracy it is still struggling to be. The ignorant will describe things that don't conform to their bigoted view of the world (as usual confusing fiction with documentary) as political correctness, liberal propaganda, leftist historical revisionism and whatever pair of words these real-life far-right sub-humans can support in their pea- sized brains when faced with a dystopian sci-fi happening right in their backyard.I believe the strength of this series lies in its ability to show how easy it is for humans to exert united oppression over those who are different. The series is not as nuanced as the film Crash (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0375679/) or District 9 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1136608/) when it comes to portraying the deeper psychological aspects of race relations. Unfortunately at this level things can be very flat and divided into the old us vs. them without much history growing into the situation the characters are found. It also doesn't build up its background history too well. The series jump-starts at a point in history where things are well ahead and kicking off with government containment, persecutions and killings freely ongoing, unlike A Handmaid's Tale which does that pretty well without soaking one on infinite flashbacks. All in all, this is a good series to watch and I am having fun so far.
SAJK It is interesting to note that most of the positive reviews for this show originate in Australia. Most of the honest reviews come from everywhere else in the world. While Australia can produce world class genre TV (Kettering Incident) it usually tries to inject it with so much obvious political and social commentary as to render it it virtually unwatchable. Especially when the ABC or any other government film body is involved. Australians seem to have to constantly remind themselves that when the British settled (invaded?) they treated the indigenous people very poorly. Australians have been endeavouring to make reparations ever since - sometimes ill advised in retrospect, but the intent has been there, none the less. There is no slavery in Australia today. The government is still trying to find the best way to help the indigenous population and it's close cousins. Original tribal lands are acknowledged and their history embraced. In all truth, all modern Australians (Aboriginal and European) deserve better than to be caricatured as they so often are in local productions these days.
sire162 This show reminds me of teen wolf, which is ending after 6 seasons. And it's about time!! You draw us in with the sci fi, or even sci fi drama. but then it turns into something way off beat!! The main character is wuss! and i do mean the king of wuss's!! Now you wanna tell a story about the aboriginal people, back to the wuss!! It's all over the damn place! This show is made for wuss society! but it's understandable the world is changing in that way. Not even a damn good sex scene, they blew that to. Really people!! Take off your damn skirts and grow a pair!!! Lol. I can't even submit this without 10 lines, lol. Why? OK, here we go. The time of time college idiot has finally come full circle!! Just like working with them stupid engineers on the job.
