Donald Seymour This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

Cheryl A clunky actioner with a handful of cool moments.
rsvp321 I was pleasantly surprised by this one.Despite the 2010 animation restrictions, I found the plot and pace were great entertainment.Definitely worth the view.
vasiln Ignore the rating. There's a simple way to tell if Ultramarines is worth your time. While playing Warhammer 40,000 video games, did you watch the cut scenes and say, "I wish there was a movie made of this?" If so, this is the movie for you.Never heard of WH40K? Don't like video games? Then this is not the movie for you.Because everything-- the story, the characters, the animation-- is exactly the quality that you would expect from a AAA video game cut scene. Exactly that good. And no better. It's a video game story. They're video game characters. And the vast majority of the scenes could have been built and rendered in a modern game engine as easily as they could have in a studio package.Kudos to the creators for doing so much on so little; I know how difficult animation is. Kudos for limiting it to 70 minutes, although another 10 minutes of cuts could have improved it further. And kudos for erring on the side of restraint rather than caricature, although I think a little less restraint would have done UM some good. I think the bang-for-your-buck for the next effort lies in improved outdoor geometry and increased use of physics systems.
ranald13 I have enjoyed the game of war hammer, I was 14 at the time. (blood angeles). so when i discovered this movie i was a little excited. The animation is now a little dated. This means that the script and story are more important as bad animation coupled with these is the basis for an awful movie. The sequel opportunity is however very high. John Hurt ,Terence Stamp and Sean Pertwee are big names with very distinct voices, this is a major advantage for this animated adventure. The mind set for the characters is loyal to the old board game, but the story is a little slow to get going. To be honest, if you know nothing of the board game then this whole movie may not make much sense. Maybe a little too close to the game for the lay audience. The film itself is an interesting little starting point. If you liked warhammer then please watch it. I just hope that they make a sequel and that it is much better. spoiler:Best line:"And we shall know no fear!"
Erik This review contains spoilers, don't read if you haven't seen the film! They had it all: a fan base of millions, big financial backers, a setting that has mesmerized people all over the world, great actors and a huge expectancy from all the people who wanted to see it.And what did they do? They made a film that's infinitely weaker than the much shorter computer game intros that were made for the Dawn of War games! The people that made the intros (especially for the first DoW game) is immensely more gifted and has more insight, know-how and general interest in the WH40K setting than the ones making this "film".I am astonished, sad and tremendously eager to know just how this was possible? How can the makers of the game, the company of Games Workshop for instance, even begin to contemplate giving this so-called movie a "go". It's totally inconceivable.1. The so-called "marines" are on an IQ-level similar to the Orks.2. The "tactic" that these super humans use while going on this mission is so full of holes and generally just without any sort of prepared thought. Remember; these are the Ultramarines, the same warriors whose leader wrote the Codex of the Adeptus Astartes. This codex allegedly tells how a successful strategy can be obtained from thousands of different battle situations, like Sun Tzu's "The Art of War".3. The chaos marines also behaved totally without thought, and only threw themselves against the imperial marines in wave after wave. All the imperials had to do, was standing put and shoot. And these, the chaos marines, are supposed to be descended from Warmaster Horus himself, the ones that calls themselves the Black Legion. These should be the best of all chaos marines! No, this has to be forgotten and the filmmakers need to go back to their draw boards. Make a new, much improved film, and maybe I'll watch.
