BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
ThedevilChoose When a movie has you begging for it to end not even half way through it's pure crap. We've all seen this movie and this characters millions of times, nothing new in it. Don't waste your time.
Lachlan Coulson This is a gorgeous movie made by a gorgeous spirit.
Geraldine The story, direction, characters, and writing/dialogue is akin to taking a tranquilizer shot to the neck, but everything else was so well done.
Platypuschow The Legacy was a pick and mix movie so I went in with zero expectations but was happy to see Sam Elliot. It tells the story of a couple of Americans who travel to England for work. While travelling through a small village they are involved in a traffic accident and are welcomed into the mansion of a nearby gentleman. But not everything is as it seems (Is it ever?).The plot is baffling, don't get me wrong I fully understand it I just deem it an absolute mess. The cast are on point, the whole movie looks great and I found myself wanting to like the film and hoping it would turn itself around. Alas it did not and when the credits rolled I was more than a little dissapointed. The Legacy is not without merits, but it should have been better as it had all the tools at its disposal for greatness. The Good:Cast are fantastic especially Sam ElliotCats <3Looks greatThe Bad:Deeply baffling plotDoesn't exactly flowThings I Learnt From This Movie:It takes seconds to become an expert crossbow wielderLogical plots are overrated
rodrig58 I think the white cat with a yellow eye and a blue eye is to blame for all the crimes. Poor Robert Daltrey, he did not have to play in movies, he did a very good job as a vocalist of THE WHO. Charles Gray starred in better movies, such as "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Diamonds Are Forever," or "You Only Live Twice." Katharine Ross and Sam Elliott were young and beautiful, they deserved a better screenplay. Probably the same cat also wrote the whole script...
stuartdonna36 This movie doesn't seem to compare to the horror movies of today but I remember really liking this film when it came out. It may have been considered much better back when the film was released. I had read the book first when it came out before seeing the film and thought it was fantastic. I found it to be a great story and played very well in my mind. Though most seem to have a complaint about the special effects/ cheesiness of the film. I think they fair well in the time frame that the movie was made, plus to this day the swimming pool scene still gives me a chill. If the special effects don't work for you try reading the book and see if your imagination doesn't bring this story to life for you. I gave it an 7 because I felt it was a good solid movie and that is what I would have rated it back in 1978.
Aaron1375 Really not a lot of horror going on in this one, however from what I see of other reviews this was just supposed to be a horror remake of a crime classic and it shows. There is one truly scary scene in this film and it involves the young lady in the pool, but other than that scene this film falls into a long line of horror movies from the 70's and early 80's that had potential, but were defeated by to much talking and not enough horror. This one starts out with a young lady and her boyfriend (I think it was her boyfriend) having some sort of accident where they end up being invited to some mansion where a whole crowd of people are assembling in the hopes of being named the successor to some guy who is dying upstairs. Funny, this very guy is the one who invited the young lady and the gentlemen to his home and he seemed just fine when he invited them. So on to the house where people, other than the pool victim, die in rather uninteresting ways and a new heir is on their way to being chosen. At one point the girl and guy try to get out of the situation, but the town seems to have a hold on them or something, you can not get away from this situation all that easily. Near the end though there is very little horror to write home about and the crossbow scene just punches that point home that this movie just is not really a horror movie at all
