RipDelight This is a tender, generous movie that likes its characters and presents them as real people, full of flaws and strengths.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Gurlyndrobb While it doesn't offer any answers, it both thrills and makes you think.
Lamar Martin It's a perfect movie in every way. I guess everyone carries a little (maybe a lot) of shame from their childhood into their adult life. This is a wonderful story about healing the shame. There is a meditation exercise in the book Healing the Shame that Binds You by Bradshaw, where the adult you can go back in time, so to speak, to talk to the child version of yourself to give "the kid" a new perspective about a shaming event, that heals the kid and the adult. It is a very loving thing to do for yourself, and this movie does just that, in a magical way. Love the movie! And having used the mediation exercise in Bradshaw's book in 1992 to go back in time to stand up for the child version of myself, on the first day of school in 1960, I know it works. Great to see a movie that brings the experience to life in a way with a super happy ending.
thebrenman Imagine yourself at age eight. Now imagine you at age eight, is standing right next to you. This happens to Bruce Willis, in Disney's "The Kid".I must say that "The Kid" is one of the funniest comedies of all time. It also reminds yourself of what you were like when you were eight years old. That feeling is priceless, and Bruce Willis carried it out in the best way ever.10 stars out of 10 stars, and nothing less for one of my favorite Disney movies of all time. There should always be more movies with type of comedy, and I expect there will in the mere future.
ashikaga As a guy who is 39, turning on 40 this year, I am happy i never really grew up. This film moves me every time i see it, brings about melancholy to the time i was still 8, carefree, no worries, mum and dad still alive..Seeing some of my colleagues even younger than me at the school i teach history at, who act and sometimes even look 50 up, i fight and fight and fight to keep my kid inside, and never lose touch with it. That also is a benefit for my pupils, as well as myself. This film is a must see for everyone, it is skilfully made, honest, caring, and Bruce Willis shows he is more than an action film actor.Highly recommended for everyone who just wants to float away on memories past, as well as people who are willing to see the message contained within.ASHIKAGA.
MartinHafer The often family-unfriendly Bruce Willis did a fine job in the movie, but the one I really liked was the pudgy and just plain adorable kid, Spencer Breslin. He made this film by both his adorable behaviors, poignant ones and his ability to act. There are many horrible child actors out there and fortunately for this film, Spencer wasn't one of them. I loved this film and it's sad that most didn't seem nearly as impressed as evidenced by its relatively low IMDb score and critical responses to the film in the media. Sure the main idea was a bit over-used (such as in BIG and VICE-VERSA among many others), but the film was not just another re-tread but had a lot to offer and a really great deeper meaning. Plus, while the film was marketed more towards kids, it was great for adults as well and I loved the movie.
