AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Jonah Abbott There's no way I can possibly love it entirely but I just think its ridiculously bad, but enjoyable at the same time.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
GL84 Trying to get his life back on track, a troubled policeman and his girlfriend's cross-country trip to visit a friend results in another case of mistaken identity when another hitchhiker starts a cycle of violence involving him again and must try to help her stop him. This one wasn't all that bad and really had a lot of great parts to it. What really tends to make this one work is the call-backs to the original to make it seem like it's starting up all over again, from the opening rescue attempt that turns on his relationship found there and the different arguments they have at the beginning to show how he's still affected by it all, along with the actual reasoning for his trip to see his friend which manages to get them caught up in the whole scenario all over again. As the freak-out in the car after initially picking him up signifies, there's a subtle hint here about the returning sense of duty and action that are lifted from this one running out that kind of premise here again which manages to then follow through with the film's best elements in the continuous action throughout here. This one has a ton of high-quality scenes here from the encounter with the trucker that's a fun shoot-out, the car-chase through the desert and the big shootout at the ranch that's quite fun with cooperative police believing them but are forced into action with his clever trap to encourage them to go after the couple and continue the shootout, resulting in a fine escape attempt. Even more fun comes from the rather exciting and entertaining stalking attempts throughout the second half, which come from the escape attempt in the water-tower and eventual escape from the desert compound and leads into the series of cat-and- mouse stalking throughout the desert highway here, culminating with the utterly thrilling chase with the police where he's in the truck and she's commandeering the plane alongside which comes up with a spectacular finale that's bloody, action-packed and really makes for a grand time here. Combined with the bloody gore and kills here, these here are all more than enough to hold this up as a fine sequel with only a few small flaws. The biggest issue here is the fact that this one does tend to feel a lot more contrived here in merely bringing up the same situations as before without really being all that different, as this one tends to put them together once again out on a lonely road and stalked by a deranged hitchhiker who frames him for his rampage here without a whole lot of reasoning here simply to play off the paranoia of it happening again. This really could've done a lot of good here with the uncertainly of it happening again as he's wallowing in the paranoia of it all by thinking it rather than happening and then it turns out he's right all-along and rely on his past experiences to help them out, but the way this goes about simply repeating it doesn't off up much chance of sticking out all that much. Otherwise, this one wasn't all that bad and had some good parts to it.Rated R: Graphic Violence and Graphic Language.
ceej101 OK. I must preface by saying that I've had the pleasure of seeing THE HITCHER with the quietly menacing Rutger Hauer and the very thought of that film still sends chills down my spine. What ...drive alone on a fairly remote stretch of road where the only thing you're liable to run into are hungry buzzards? Sure! Why not? And while we're at it let's stop and pick up a psychopathic serial killer who just happens to be Rutger Hauer! What the hell! It's not as though you've just lowered your odds of surviving such an encounter ...right? OK..now let's make some lame substitutions for the killer and call him Jake Busey and while we're at let's throw in the pretty (but vacuous) )Kari .Wuhrerand there you have it: voilà! The not so spectacular THE HITCHER 2: I've Been Waiting! See how that works out? I myself have been waiting for a decent sequel and like so many others, I was lured in simply by seeing the name C. Thomas Howell attached to this movie so ...I'd thought I'd give it a shot. Silly me! Nothing in the way of chills here with Jake Busy flashing what I can only describe as a horsey grin and resembling his father more and more by the minute (OK...now I'm scared!).As for C.Thomas Howell his character was only there as a poorly written lead in( another much needed pay check for the financially beleaguered Howell, who at last check was being sued..blah blah blah). This movie is yet another reason why Hollywood should try coming up with something new instead of resting lazily on its laurels and yelling "sequel!sequel!". To try and retell or reinvent something as good as THE HITCHER is a downright travesty and an insult to the movie going public. I would strongly suggest that if you haven't seen the original with Rutger Hauer you should do so.
Michael O'Keefe Suspenseful and violent. C. Thomas Howell plays Jim Halsey, a cop recently dismissed for his roughness and advised to take a break and get away. Jim and his girlfriend Maggie(Kari Wuher)fly to west Texas to see one of Jim's mentors. The couple are rolling down the same rural highway that Jim suffered trauma as a child. He has flashbacks of his being kidnapped and rescued on this same lonely highway; and it can get lonely in west Texas. A hitchhiker named Jack(Jake Busey)causes grave suspicions in Jim's mind, but Maggie convinces him to lighten up and give the hitcher a ride. Mistake; this guy is a sadistic psycho hell bent on continuing his serial killing. Most of the time nothing makes a lot of sense. The violence kicks into higher gear during the final ten minutes; but this movie just doesn't seem to have a whole lot to brag about. Filmed entirely in Canada; and this will have my friends in Midland out searching for more rugged and elevated terrain.
jamiecostelo58 I like to give films a chance when I first watch them, but this sequel to the brilliant 1986 film is rather weak. It may contain some stomach-churning scenes and other startling moments, but it still proves a failure.I don't know why sequels are made if I'm honest, because they just seem to go on and on....Some superior movies are terrific without sequels, and The Hitcher was one of them. The Hitcher 2: I've Been Waiting simply ruins the whole aspect of the first movie, although the fact that Jim Halsey is now a policeman is an interesting premise. Kari Wuhrer is rather convincing in her role, even if Jake Busey is not.Flashbacks from the first film is a strong point, as well as the new plot being based along the same stretch of road, but as a whole, The Hitcher 2: I've Been Waiting is extremely unconvincing. It isn't that bad a movie, but the budget was wasted (not surprising the film went straight-to-video really). I certainly had NOT been waiting for a sequel to The Hitcher, hence my rating of just 2/10.
