SpuffyWeb Sadly Over-hyped
Jakoba True to its essence, the characters remain on the same line and manage to entertain the viewer, each highlighting their own distinctive qualities or touches.
Winifred The movie is made so realistic it has a lot of that WoW feeling at the right moments and never tooo over the top. the suspense is done so well and the emotion is felt. Very well put together with the music and all.
Yazmin Close shines in drama with strong language, adult themes.
Time Saver First of all, if you've already watched the trailer then this movie will hardly be interesting to you.One of the things I really hate is when I see a good idea ruined by a below-average realization. And this is one such case. The idea is very original, which is very hard to achieve nowadays. The acting is decent, even though the main actor is not the right guy for this role. The plot is mysterious and well designed, if we ignore certain cliché and predictable moments. There are two stories here. The second one begins in the middle of the film and fills the holes of the first story. The mystery unfolds and you wonder what will happen next. And then the movie is over. Just like that. This story has no ending! No point!Given that, this is an average movie at best. Considering that this is something unfinished, I recommend that you skip this one and save yourself some time.
kluseba La Cara Oculta, internationally known as The Hidden Face, is a Colombian-Spanish co-production. The movie is probably best described as a mixture of a psycho thriller and a drama. The movie has its very own style which makes it stand out but also quite difficult to digest to be honest. The story revolves around Spanish orchestra conductor Adrian who accepts a job occasion in Bogota for one year. He asks his girlfriend Belen to come with him and after some hesitation she decides to leave her family and job behind and move to Colombia. Her husband and she settle in a stylish mansion previously owned by Germans who fled their country in the aftermath of the Second World War. Soon, Belen believes that her husband is cheating on her with a violinist called Veronica which leads to some arguments and discussions. One day, Adrian comes home and Belen has disappeared, leaving only a video message behind to tell her husband that she can't live with him any longer. However, Belen seems to have completely disappeared as she doesn't give any news to family members or friends and doesn't seem to leave Colombia to return to Spain. Adrian is initially unsettled but soon starts a new relationship with a sensitive barmaid called Fabiana who is looking for a rich boyfriend. Meanwhile, the police investigates Belen's disappearance and starts to believe that Adrian might have some skeletons in his closet. When Fabiana starts to witness strange events in Adrian's house, she also starts to investigate. On the positive side, most of the story takes place in the remote mansion outside of Bogota which is a gorgeous building with a few interesting secrets. The locations of the movie are out-thought, stylish and unique. The movie has a slightly uneasy and mysterious atmosphere from start to finish which can be described as the film's guiding line. The initial story line is intriguing enough to keep the audience interested during the movie's first half. However, the movie loses its pace halfway through the film when the most important secrets are already revealed. There is also a lot of repetition in the plot and what many critics described as a twisted ending is actually quite predictable. The movie though fails to tell us what happens after this little twist which might have added some tension to the film. Another problem is that the characters in this film are all very unlikable, especially the antipathic lead character Adrian. It's difficult to get into a movie if there isn't a single character to root for.To keep it short, the main idea behind the movie is quite intriguing but the repetitive storytelling and the unlikable characters waste a lot of potential. The film has a mysterious atmosphere, great locations and a few stylish sex scenes but the movie is lacking suspense and tension. Regular psycho thriller fans can give this movie a shot but anyone else can skip this one.
Bob An I started to watch this film by chance, as I had nothing better to do and I was really surprised how good it was!The beginning of the movie may be a bit slow and at one point I asked myself if this would be good or not, but then the shift of the stories and the beginning of 'the missing girl story' really starts to make this movie interesting. As the story of the girl develops, you begin to wonder what happened to her and then the twist with the German woman and her secret immediately make you realize what has happened and then the movie gets really interesting.I must say it was really good, from the beginning to the last second! I was hesitant between nine and ten, but will go with nine! All the actors, especially the leading male were really good! And the story too! Great thriller!
morrison-dylan-fan Talking to a friend recently about movies he has seen,I got told about a Bollywood Thriller called Murder 3.Taking a look at the titles IMDb page,I found out that it was an "unofficial" remake of a fantastic-looking Spanish Horror/Thriller.Getting set to write my 800th IMDb review,I felt that it was the perfect time to unmask the hidden face. The plot:Returning home, conductor Adrián finds out that his girlfriend Belén has recorded him a video message.Playing the video, Adrián is horrified to hear Belén say that she has left him,and that he will never see her again. After reporting her missing to the cops, Adrián starts to drown his sorrows.Finding him heavily drunk, barmaid Fabiana decides to take Adrián back to her place.Taken by her easy-going charms, Adrián starts to fall in love with Fabiana, whilst Fabiana falls for Adrián's elegant musicianship. With there being no sign of Belén,Fabiana (who has been told about the missing Belén) moves in with Adrián.Whilst taking a shower,Fabiana begins to hear strange noises coming from the bathroom pipes. Terrified that the sounds are being made by the ghost of Belén,Fabiana soon discovers that Belén is far from being a ghost.View on the film:For the first half of the film, the screenplay by co-writer/(along with Arturo Infante & Hatem Khraiche)director Andrés Baiz gives the viewer an excellent false sense of security,as Fabiana and Adrián burning love is haunted by noises straight from a traditional ghost story. After getting the audience to set their minds on a ghost story being told, the writers deliver an extremely intelligent, smart twists, which shows the events that have taken place in the last 40 minutes at a completely different angle.Making sure that the title does not place all its importance on the twist, the writers build a Noirish Horror Thriller atmosphere,as Fabiana & Belén each develop a deep sense of doubt for Adrián.Keeping things bumping in the night for the first half, Baiz & cinematographer Josep M. Civit brilliantly use the exposure of flesh from the stunning cast to subtly show the "ghost" movements hit Adrián and Fabiana when they are at their most nakedly vulnerable.Casting Adrián's house in a golden light,Baiz reveals in an ultra-stylised manner, that despite looking glamorous on the outside, the house, and Adrián/ Fabiana & Belén each have a decaying darkness laying within.Surrounded by a gang of gorgeous girls, Quim Gutiérrez gives a wonderful performance as Adrián,with Gutiérrez showing that beneath Adrián's smooth charms hides a deep lack of long-term care for anyone else.Delivering an intense anger in the second half, the very pretty Clara Lago gives a marvellous performance as Belén,thanks to Lago showing a deep, mistrusting rage engulf Belén.Entering the movie with a sly smile, Martina García (who also appears naked in the title) gives an excellent performance as Fabiana, who García gives a sweet innocence to,which is torn apart to reveal viciously cynical edge,as Fabiana looks into the eyes of the hidden face.
