Scanialara You won't be disappointed!
Chatverock Takes itself way too seriously
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
utgard14 Cannon Movie Tales version of the Frog Prince fairy tale. As with the other Cannon Movie Tales I've seen, it's full of corny songs and "nice try" sets and costumes. It also has a slight story padded out to make a feature length film. But hey there's Annie herself, Aileen Quinn, and Helen Hunt before she was a star. Quinn's the lead as Princess Zamora, who befriends a prince who was cursed and turned into a frog man. In my head I called him Dig'em Frog, after the cereal mascot. Quinn does a decent job, although it's easy to see why her career didn't go anywhere. Hunt plays her sister Henrietta, who's a total bitch. Clive Revill offers nice support as the King. John Paragon (Jambi from Pee Wee's Playhouse) plays the Frog Prince (Dig'em). The frog makeup is pretty good for the limited budget, but perhaps it's a bit creepy for a kids film where the frog is a good guy. I could see this makeup being used in a horror movie. Anyway, this is one of the more enjoyable Cannon fairy tale movies I've seen. It's not great by any means but it is entertaining. For an adult, at least. Not sure how this would fly with kids. The frog might give them nightmares.
TxMike I recently saw Helen Hunt's newest movie "The Sessions", and on the eve of her turning 50 I was recalling when I first saw her. It was in the 1980s movie "Quarterback Princess." That one is not available on Netflix streaming movies but this one is. So even though it is not my usual target movie, it was fun. This is a children's musical, and as it began and young princess Zora began to sing I thought "She sounds as good as those young girls who played 'Annie' over the years." Imagine my surprise, a pleasant one, when I realized that former "Annie" star Aileen Quinn in fact plays Princess Zora. She is the younger sister, living in her uncle's castle, not sure she is pretty enough to be a princess. But one evening outside near the pond, when she drops her special metal ball into the water a Frog, big as a man, comes jumping out. He promises to retrieve her ball if she will promise to be his friend.Helen Hunt, in her early 20s, plays her mean, jealous older sister Henrietta. One evening she spots Zora and the Frog dancing, as he was instructing her on how to become a princess. So she manages to capture the Frog and imprison him in a pit, far away from the castle. As the ball was beginning, and the night one of the two sisters would be chosen Princess of the land, Zora manages to locate the Frog and free him. In the process she kissed him on the cheek, gave him a hug, and looked up to see he was no longer a Frog but a handsome Prince. They make it back to the ball together, just in time, and Zora is crowned Princess. John Paragon plays the Frog, Ribbit, in a great-looking costume, and as the movie ends has turned into the Prince Of Freedly.
Azlan Lewis Very low budget, very evident in the sets of this film with very few known actors. Aileen Quinn (from Annie)her acting is horrible and so is Hellen Hunt's. Words from the actors come out of their mouths as if they have never spoken English before and don't know what the words mean. The "Frog Prince" of the movie would scare children. The Giant frog doesn't seem to scare Aileen Quin's character even though this over 6 foot tall man-frog leaps from the fountain very scary makeup for the man-frog. This Grims Brothers fairy tail is turned into a musical. The songs are oddly placed and are still strange at that.Do not waste your time or your child's time with this movie.
ParagonFreedly It's an adorable film about keeping promises, trust, and not judging appearance alone. It is in all probability the most unique version of the beloved fairytale ever made! It is a movie perfect for an individual and/or a whole family! Unfortunately it is out of print. Don't ever pass up the chance to see it!!!!!!
