imdb-15773 Overall this film just plodded, slowly, to a rather meaningless end. There wasn't anything that I would define as "bad" but there was very little development, action, scares or, well, anything.The budget looked very small but this wasn't the problem as they actually made the most of the money. The acting wasn't bad as such, though the final part where Laura is "possessed" was a bit comedic. The premise wasn't original (spirit possessing someone and messing with people's minds).It was just rather boring really which is in some ways one of the worst things to say.

sallyannchadbourne My husband and I have watched The Familiar several times. The film deals with a very interesting and difficult subject matter. Could this type of activity happen in real life? We believe so. Which makes this movie scary stuff to think about. The acting was good. I think both main characters did a very good job of playing their parts. It was convincing enough to make the story come to life. I wouldn't recommend young children under 12 watching it. It is just a scary enough movie to be a little too disturbing for younger viewers. We found it strangely enjoyable. Most films dealing with this subject matter go somewhat over the top with too much violence and disturbing imagery, but that wasn't the case in this movie. It was a a lot more believable in our opinion without being too graphic.

urx-795-910129 At the beginning i was skeptical about this spirit stuff. After introduced Laura character i was amazed. I must admit Laura Spencer played good role and i really had strange feelings like Sam character could feel. If i would be in this situation in real life, it would make me crazy in good way:) It is always important to have some kind of feeling from movie and it did exactly that! Even the concept itself was a bit silly, the human part was played well. Also there were good technical details. How people handled things, it felt very realistic. One thing i didn't like was the end part, it was too unrealistic for me and for a moment i lost feeling being in movie. After all it is possible that i will watch this movie again later just to get this strange feeling again.
