Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
Merolliv I really wanted to like this movie. I feel terribly cynical trashing it, and that's why I'm giving it a middling 5. Actually, I'm giving it a 5 because there were some superb performances.
Kaydan Christian A terrific literary drama and character piece that shows how the process of creating art can be seen differently by those doing it and those looking at it from the outside.
alex_shifrin The story of an unmedicated paranoid schizophrenic boy, who places his newborn brother's life in mortal danger while attempting to live out a hallucination that puts his parents' employer at the centre of a plot to take over the world using genetically modified canines. Great family viewing. 9/10.
ravidenov So... let's begin by saying this: the movie isn't spectacular. It's your typical, run of the mill kids movie but the comedy in it was pretty entertaining. The thing I didn't like was how many of the jokes were bland and boring. Yeah, there weren't as many as most kids films these days but you could feel them every now and then. In the end I would say: if you have time, watch it.
bobby-maddox The main problem with "The Boss Baby" is that it's a Good movie in a time where awesome animated movies are made. Let's face it, animated films are not only for kids, studios like Disney and Pixar tend to make films that entertain adults before children (Toy Story, Inside Out) and this step raised the competition level. Don't get me wrong, The Boss Baby is not a bad film, it has really strong material: A great Story, a solid performance by Alec Baldwin and big message to deliver. But still you feel like 80% of the jokes are made for kids (and I mean zero to five years). The animation had some ups and downs, the scenes where we go into Tim's imagination are annoying and the use of colors didn't always help. I don't know if anybody else noticed but there was so many "easter eggs" from other animated film especially by Pixar (The Dinosaur toy looks just like Rex from Toy Story....). The Boss Baby is a good popcorn/late The Boss Baby 6/10 The main problem with "The Boss Baby" is that it's a Good movie in a time where awesome animated movies are made. The Movie Diorama After the first few minutes, it sprung into my mind that this was incredibly similar to 'Storks'. Imaginatively illustrating where babies come from to create an entertaining animation. What's different with this iteration is that it attempts to blend the lifestyle of a manager with a cute toddler, but doesn't always hit the target. Tim is welcomed by a baby brother who turns out to be a literate boss baby that was hired by a company to prevent people from loving puppies more than babies. A rather creative concept, to mix the stressful life of an office worker with the inadequacy of infancy. It's humorous for the first few minutes, to then stretch the idea for a whole first act before establishing a coherent story grew tedious extremely quickly. Memos, briefcases, money, charts, we get it...it's a baby who bosses people around wearing managerial attire. Baldwin was perfect voice casting for the boss baby whose dead pan delivery sparks the occasional snigger. Yet he is only a small percentage of the voice acting pie chart that I would class as memorable, everyone else was simply just functional. The primary animation style was fine, nothing outstanding, however the style changes when Tim's overly imaginative perspective kicks in to differentiate fantasy from reality. Also liked the pop-up book expositional scene which showcases some innovative animation. The constant film references ('Raiders of the Lost Ark', 'Mary Poppins', 'Lord of the Rings' etc.) may have peaked my interest initially but the overuse of them became detrimental to the comedic script as it rapidly descends into uninspired laziness. The antagonist and primary plot were forgettable and strangely felt pushed aside to focus on developing the relationship between Tim and the boss baby. Fortunately, the last ten minutes pulled in some much needed emotion and rounded the flick off nicely. It's most certainly not the worst animation I've seen, but it feels both imaginative and bland simultaneously. The Elvis impersonators cracked me up though!
