raul_nib what can i say? its like a wannabe salò meets some of the worst 80's era Jess Franco with a little bit of "we've all heard it before politics". The plot makes no sense whatsoever, the pacing is super slow, it tries way too hard to shock with dumb and pointless scenes, such as the vomiting pooping banquet orgy thing.And oh the sex on sugar scene insults my intelligence. To be fair the first 20 or so minutes were fairly entertaining and funny , but after that i just got bored.

const Even though I don't agree with some Makavejev's opinions and conclusions, I, still, believe that people might need to know the following basic ideas of this movie. Sugar is sweet. But it is harsh and deadly for human body and mind.Chocolate is very sweet, tasty, delicious. But it is deadly for human mind.Makavejev's prediction of the end of cult of sugar 15 years before it happened is very impressive.But what about the chocolate cult?You have been eating chocolate all your life. And you are sure you are OK. But are you really thinking you are ALIVE?

Makes you paranoid. There are even excerpts from a Nazi propaganda footage in it of the Katyn massacre. How convenient? How convenient indeed.It is allegorical. It is avant-garde. Its artistic value is relative to taste and my opinion, which is of course inherently subjective, is this is as much artistic as Salvador Dali's bottom.We get the analogy. It is not what you would call subtle. The men and boys lured into the Karl Marx boat full of sweets. The rich defiling the innocent and pure. A man reborn covered in urine and feces (the kind of image that will stay with you for a very long time).Of course you may want to watch it. The way you may want to watch a snuff film. Of course you may like this. The way you may like watching a man shoot himself.

florinc For those who ask what is this movie about, it is about us and our childish and deadly belief in political doctrines, east, west alike. The "western" (American) life is chocolate coated but tasteless (money has no taste), while the "eastern" (communist) is a close death-trap-ship full of useless sugar where people play with shi... (what actually communists do). So, why children in the movie? Because they are untouched and they are our hope. They can be talked in with sweets and sex, but in the end they will will reborn (spiritually) and save us. This is why the last scene has the camera moving from the feet upward (or better head ward), sort of seeing Jesus on the cross from down up, coming back to life. This move, actually, needs no dialogs. The images are a language (a sign of a great movie) in itself, and as such the visual movie "speaks" for itself. So, please do not indulge in simple minded acts like being shocked or disgusted, or you name it. Simply, real simply, like a child in the movie, listen to the story with your eyes, mind and soul. Why not 10 stars? Because it is not at the same level as Andrei Rublev.
