Micransix Crappy film
Odelecol Pretty good movie overall. First half was nothing special but it got better as it went along.
Dynamixor The performances transcend the film's tropes, grounding it in characters that feel more complete than this subgenre often produces.
StuOz The adventures of a wacky spaceship crew. After seeing the wonderful "Airplane!" (1980) I was expecting Leslie Nielsen to be the big attraction to this little flick, however to my surprise all the most amusing lines went to a monster and a crewman named "Rodzinski" (Gerrit Graham). This film seems to have improved with age, I do remember seeing it in the 1980s and not being overly thrilled by it, but a recent screening went over very well and I now regard it as one of the very under-rated gems of the 1980s.It actually reminded me of the 1960s submarine series, "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea", which often featured colourful creatures walking the deck of the sub.
bab_oldy I saw this movie for the reason a lot of people saw it. It was called Naked Space. I assumed it would be as good as The Naked Gun series. But instead I got one of the cheesiest space movies I've ever seen, but overall it was freaking' hilarious! Sometimes I would be laughing at the jokes, but most of the time I was laughing at the acting and dialogue. I love Leslie Nielsen, and he was the closest this film got to decent. Although I can't say that I didn't enjoy the "I Want to Eat Your Face" musical number. So I'm not saying it was the greatest movie I've ever seen, but I'm not saying it was the worst. It was an overacted, badly directed, terribly written spoof. And it was hilarious!
flax_johnny This truly underrated movie (I can't get why so many people hate it) isn't only funny with lines such as "If that's music I'm a horses ass!" "Then it must be music." "I want to eat your knees" it's hilarious as it is. But when you watch it many times you discover many smart and funny undertones such as, the thing that Rodzinski says about Capt. Jameson trying to look under Annie McHues blouse. Which if you watch the movie you will see on many occasions that he does, or trying to touch her, hehe. Just watch this movie for what it is, a not to be taken serious space parody with hilariously bad effects (meant to be bad, and they also didn't have a choice because of low budget) and I hope you will love it just like me and my friends.
Michelle Souliere (misfitgirl) Well... I know some folks herald this as intelligent satire, but... I had a hard time with it. The only redeeming moment was when Dr. Stark, asked if he wants any pie, says "Science is my pie." That pretty much saved the movie for about thirty seconds. The problem was that there were lots and lots of "jokes" that were very flat. Not flat as in deadpan. Flat as in... what was so funny about it? Perhaps if I watched it over and over again it might make me laugh more, but as I had a difficult time getting through it even ONCE, I doubt I'll ever know.I am a big fan of horrible movies, such as "Traxx" starring Shadoe Stevens where a Soldier of Fortune mercenary turns his attention to being a successful cookie maker, and of spoofs like "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra." But I could not find the spark that makes a bad movie great in Spaceship (a.k.a. The Creature Wasn't Nice).Perhaps there was a lack of tension to make the characters pop? So they would seem less like they were just reading lines? Perhaps they all needed more pie, or more science. Or more Science Pie.The world may never know.Support your local piemaker.
