ChicRawIdol A brilliant film that helped define a genre
Baseshment I like movies that are aware of what they are selling... without [any] greater aspirations than to make people laugh and that's it.
Murphy Howard I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Ella-May O'Brien Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.
jdollak This is not a great movie by any stretch, but as a fan of horror, and being aware of some of the most boring, borderline unwatchable horror, I can easily say that this is not that bad. It has some weaknesses. The photography is competent, but it retains a certain shot-on-video look. The sound is acceptable, although not great. At least I can tell what people say, for the most part. The stories are at the core of the movie. The wraparound is passable, if not a little weak. But who watches anthology horror movies for the framing device? The first story is probably my least favorite. I'm not a fan of computer work that looks fake, and there's a decent amount in this story. The story itself is probably better than this filming let on. The tone of the segment seems a bit forced, and the ending felt like they were pushing for a Twilight Zone closing. The second story was surprisingly my favorite. While I was able to figure out the ending a bit early on, it created an unusual sense of tension, which was welcome. The third story had a lot of potential to be the best of them, but it felt like they squandered it by pushing the story to a gore/revenge angle. There's enough gore to satisfy people looking for it, but it wasn't right. There were too many instances with loads of blood spraying, and too many times where people suffer huge injuries from blunt objects. This created a comedic tone, which I don't think was intended. But for the low budget production this is, it's really pretty decent. They put enough work into the sound so that the picture can be understood. The stories were polished up enough so that they didn't feel conspicuous, or otherwise like they included useless scenes. It's not bad!
peteranderson975 Or 3 Slices of Life as the film seems be called in the credits is a low-budget anthology film featuring amateur actors and lots of gore. There is also nudity too.Synopsis: there are four stories here including the wraparound story Sketchers - A young woman wakes up on the lawn of motel with no memory of who she is. She is told that she works at the motel and is put back to work by the constantly inebriated owner. While there she here's voices telling to open one of three flesh-bound books of sketches. As she reads each the film fades into to tell the story. As each story ends she find that they are describing real events W.O.R.M – a lonely nerd working in the basement of a large marketing company thinks he has found a solution to getting people to like him but his plan goes very wrong. Amber Alert – A pregnant woman finds herself haunted by visions young girls who have gone missing in her neighbourhood. Pink Snapper – A brother and sister go on the run to escape a sexually abusive uncle. They find an unconscious man on the road by a large house. After taking him to the hospital they return to house and find his daughter locked up in the basement. The amateur acting film is definitely going to be a major turn-off for most people especially in the wraparound story but I kept watching and I have to say that the stories and the special effects really made it worth the effort. This film reminds of the type of films Frank Henenlotter makes, cheap and cheesy exploitation films with gore by the bucket. If you like films like Frankenhooker or Bad Biology then you may also like this.
baronsamstag I do love Horror movies. I do love B-movies. And hell yeah, I love myself a good trash movie every now and then. But this - uh, movie - this is one of the most boring, lame and totally dumb films I have ever seen. Don't even think about watching it. This movie totally sucks. The acting is bad. The gore is idiotic, lame and cheap. The story lines do not even exist. THIS SUCKS. I read some of the first reviews, but like my predecessor said, they must have been friends of either the director or the production company. No person in its right mind could enjoy this. Not even the director can. Every 3rd rate Italian zombie flick of the 70s had more ideas, better plot and more talented actors than this stupid piece of crap.
James9670 Just read the reviews. Very easy to tell that they're written by people involved with the movie. Half of them were surely even written by the same person as they end in the same way, with an enthusiastic, "If you want to see a great movie or great horror or a good time or whatever, see Slices of Life" followed by an exclamation point. It's just sad that someone would go to that much trouble to get people to see a movie that's so terrible. Don't have much to say other than that. I get the appeal of wanting to make movies, it's what I'm going to school for. I think it's disheartening to see that some people worked so hard (it isn't easy, I know that, whether you're making something good or bad, filmmaking requires some real effort) on something that turned out to be garbage. All that there's left to say is, if you want to see a great horror movie with gore-galore and plenty of laughs..... well then maybe you'd be better off seeing something else!
