Afouotos Although it has its amusing moments, in eneral the plot does not convince.
Megamind To all those who have watched it: I hope you enjoyed it as much as I do.
AnhartLinkin This story has more twists and turns than a second-rate soap opera.
Usamah Harvey The film's masterful storytelling did its job. The message was clear. No need to overdo.
tripper-09331 As far as CGI and video game movies go this was the best one I've ever seen! The animation was really well done and that's saying something since this review is being written in 2017 for a CGI movie made 5 years ago.The animation is very realistic (compared to other RE CGI movie that are more cartoonish). The plot is actually very engaging too! What impressed me the most is the intelligence of the characters. Even the faceless "fodder" bad guys were smart. They would communicate with each other and actually make smart decisions to try and stay alive. As a result when they died it felt more intense as they would die in a way that really seemed like there was no way to avoid death. I also had a few moments with legitimate jump scares which no CGI movie has ever been able to successfully achieve on me in the past.If you have played Resident Evil 4 you will be able to appreciate a few easter eggs related to that game. Like when Ada comments about the last time she saw Leon (which was during RE 4). However, there is nothing in the plot of this movie that requires you to have played any of the games or watched any of the CGI or live action movies. Everything you need to know for the sake of the movie is explained to you. There was also lots of action and a respectable amount of gore. Not on the level of a SAW movie but enough to feel the impact of it. I had paused the movie a few times just to admire the detail of how bad guys would be blow up or torn apart. There was also (surprisingly) a few adult sections with revealing cleavage that helped show the maturity of the film. For whatever cheesy parts that happen in the movie (inherit of any video game CGI movie) it is completely forgivable as it is greatly overshadowed by the entirety of the movie. This isn't a movie that you will spend days thinking about but it is a movie you will not regret watching. Definitely a good movie to watch at night or on a weekend.
alexfromhorn This movie definitely feels like a Resident Evil title to a fan of the game series which is good for all RE players, so most of us will like this movie definitely not like those Mila Yovovych movies... The story is interesting with some small twists, the political aspects even make it nicer. The action which is very well and interestingly performed (or directed) and can actually surprise you in a good way, not like most of those new Hollywood action movies that seem to get more and more boring... Leon S. Kennedy is again the protagonist of this movie, I would choose a different guy this time but they managed to portrait him well in this animated movie, but not as good as in RE: Degeneration. The side-characters were not well enough developed and they lacked a bit in background story and ambitions. I really liked the president of this "Eastern Slav Republic", she was hot, she was well development and simply an intriguing character. Compared to RE: Degeneration this movie felt a bit weaker because I think the dramaturgy didn't go that well and too many things were left unclear which is really sad - maybe some of the games give an explanation, but that certainly doesn't make this movie better. A really interesting thing is how this story actually kinda foresaw the Ukraine/Krim-Crisis in a very abstracted way, because this movie was released a short while before stuff started to go wild over there... even the president kinda reminds heavily of the general-secretary of the Krim Republic (and internet-star) Natalja Poklonskaja which is an (almost?) prophetic coincidence. In a short sentence: Watch it if you like RE, watch if you want to see some good action stuff.
VideoEmbolism I thought this movie was going to suck because it started out weird and I didn't really understand what the hell was going on because it takes place in Russia and stuff that happens in Russia isn't always that understandable you know? Then after awhile it all became clear and I realized that I was indeed watching a Resident Evil animated movie with zombies and good guys with guns(the Americans) and bad guys with guns(the russians) and it was full of blood and gore and great animation and conspiracies that almost made sense if they hadn't been contrived solely for making yet another Resident Evil movie instead of having any relevant social context. Then it became kind of fun and for awhile I forgot I was living in a hell called "reality". Then the movie ended and I realized I was broke, middle-aged, basically homeless and surrounded by real zombies called "other people". I was so depressed I decided to watch this movie again.
Jan Strydom I was pleased at discovering that there was a second RESIDENT EVIL CG movie as I very much enjoyed the first one which is called DEGENERATION. This however has a lot more action and a very intriguing plot to hold your attention. The CG itself is very well done and the action is non stop and very intense. Although I wouldn't say this film is very child friendly. One of the things it does better is staying true to the games. It doesn't go in THE MATRIX direction like the recent live action films did, it really stays true to both the feeling and the atmosphere the RESIDENT EVIL games are known for.Overall, It's very cool and much better than the live action movies. Fans of the games will certainly have a blast.
