Actuakers One of my all time favorites.
Steineded How sad is this?
Verity Robins Great movie. Not sure what people expected but I found it highly entertaining.
Bob This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.
Loren-3 I've seen my share of Star Trek fan fiction produced and released on YouTube. If I were to characterize what I had seen before Axanar showed up on my radar, in a single word, I'd say it was "uneven." Sets tend to be quite good, graphics variable from mediocre to near-studio-quality, and acting which, while it has its moments, never leaves the amateur ranks. Then, something over a year ago (June of 2014), the trailer for Prelude to Axanar showed up in my "What to Watch" list on YouTube. Out of curiosity I clicked on it ... HOOBOY! Whoever was doing this, I thought, they were SERIOUS!* Sets - Perfect * CGI - BEAUTIFUL! * Music - Original and well-done! * Acting - 100% PROFESSIONAL!That last should be no surprise, considering that many of the actors working in the service of this brief piece were veterans of actual Star Trek episodes. Two months later when Prelude to Axanar came out, there wasn't the slightest drop in professionalism or quality in any aspect of that beautiful short film. This is work worthy not just of the name Star Trek; it is worthy of big-screen time. That sentiment is reinforced by a teaser first scene, released on 10 July, 2015, involving Gary Graham as Vulcan Ambassador Soval and Kim Fitzgerald as Minister T'Lera, discussing critical issues relating to a conflict which will culminate at Axanar. This is quality work, the likes of which I haven't seen outside of the major studios, made by people who love Star Trek and want to represent it at the highest level possible, even though they cannot make a single dime off of it. They are to be saluted for their hard work and dedication ... and I just can't WAIT to see the final product!
doxiedowns Prelude to Axanar is a delight to fans of Star Trek before the time- line remix. I have seen all the live action visual installments of Star Trek and find this Prelude worthy of the Star Trek legacy. With various cast members having been in previous Star Trek series (The Next Generation, Deep Space 9, Voyager, Enterprise) you'll see familiar faces in both familiar and unfamiliar roles. Prelude to Axanar is a teaser to Axanar (currently in a state of production) and believe me when I say WOW! Prelude is set-up as a documentary style event reviewing the Four Years War between the Federation and the Klingon Empire. clips of the various battles are shown while those who took part in the events recall key events that shaped the future Klingon/Federation relations throughout the known series and movies. Though under 30 minutes the action and pace make it feel larger and it is not at all boring.
Brad Enderle I funded the Kick-starter, for full disclosure, and was skeptical, but optimistic about the movie. After watching the now completed Prelude, I was instantly hooked, and can't wait for the full-length feature. It's a great story, that's never been told in the history of Star Trek, and the production staff is fantastic, effects aren't perfect, but still fantastic for an indie-film. If you haven't seen it yet, watch it in 1080p glory on you-tube, and support a great take on the Star Trek universe, and canonical story-line. One of the best parts of the short film, in my opinion is the Documentary-like take on it, as if the viewer is setting in the 24th or whatever future century watching the Federation version of the History channel, and seeing what went down from the Captains that were there at the time of the 4 years war. Brilliant decision, and definitely adds to the characters, as they tell their side of the story.
supergenius Seriously, this short film is phenomenal. It captures the spirit of TREK better than anything that CBS/Paramount has done in the past 20 years. I can't wait to see what they can do with a full length feature film. The conceit of a "documentary" chronicling the Four Years War is a brilliant way for this team to demonstrate what they are capable of. The SFX are gorgeous, the acting top notch and the editing is first rate.Best of all, we get a fascinating take on an event (the Battle of Axanar) that got a passing reference in canon in the TOS episode "Whom Gods Destroy" and sprouted an entire mythology in fandom. The Four Years War between the Federation and the Klingon Empire is first mentioned in Pocket Book's "Spaceflight Chronology" as the conflict where the Battle of Axanar took place. FASA based it's role playing supplements on the SFC and previous fandom based materials, and expanded on it with a whole RPG supplement about the Four Years War. Fandom has further expanded from that. It's great to see such talent expended on bringing us a vision of this part of TREK history.
