Platicsco Good story, Not enough for a whole film
CommentsXp Best movie ever!
CrawlerChunky In truth, there is barely enough story here to make a film.
Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
guyadiangold Though this movie may not be the greatest of all time, I thought it had a great message. Accept who you are, work with what you got and be the best you can be. Besides, you cannot be anyone else, so you may as well accept yourself and be happy.
Mia Blackheart OK, here's one big spoiler about the movie (and maybe life, in general) ALL skinny women are "bitches" who will try to steal your man, and the best way a large woman has to cope with it is to hate the living hell out of those women. Because they're skinny. And they surely starve themselves, because there's NO SUCH THING as trying to be healthy and really love your body by feeding it properly and not sitting on your butt all day. This is just another movie that deals with overweight the only way possible: by hating people who don't suffer from it. Sorry, by hating women, because, let's face it, the male character is hot. Really hot. It's just another horrible example about how large woman HAVE TO HATE skinny women instead of doing something positive for themselves. I wouldn't let a young girl watch this movie, honestly.
danceability Uplifting and FunnyFunny and Loved It.I have to be honest when I first heard of this movie. My first thought was another bad movie like the Cookout. To my pleasant surprise It was really good. It has a positive message which will appeal to anyone. Monique plays a salesperson trying create a clothing line for plus-size women while battling the prejudice that she meets from others as well as accepting who she is. A movie about self-esteem,self-improvement, self-awareness. I would recommended this to anyone. Phat Girlz proves that being big can also be beautiful in this entertaining, heartfelt comedy. Fed up with the mumu-style clothing in popular stores Jazmine decides to come up with her own clothing line. Her boss and her own self-doubt prove to be her biggest hurdle.Actors: Mo'Nique, Kendra C. Johnson, Jimmy Jean-Louis, Godfrey, Joyful Drake Loved It
koyasu_kudou I knew that this movie wasn't going to be particularly moving, but I didn't realize it was going to be absolute crap. The idea behind this film was to break barriers and stereotypes, but that can't be done if you keep perpetuating them at the same time.According to this movie fat women are dateless, desperate, and can only attract men from far away, impoverished countries where being obese is a good thing because food is so scarce. Talk about building up a woman's self-esteem. And the whole "thin people are evil;they need to eat and get fat too, so that I can feel better" theme, is just embarrassing. An obvious hypocrisy is how fat women are accepted in this film, but the only men depicted as love interests had to have above average bodies. It wasn't okay to ignore fat women, but it was okay to ignore fat men and even men who were just average.Altogether Phat Girlz was pitiful and treated the idea of taking overweight women seriously like a funny daydream rather than a real possibility.
