Micitype Pretty Good
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Kirandeep Yoder The joyful confection is coated in a sparkly gloss, bright enough to gleam from the darkest, most cynical corners.
Logan By the time the dramatic fireworks start popping off, each one feels earned.
Daman-Malone The plot for this film and what it was being sold on was actually a pretty good concept, not overly original but good. This movie reminds me of a severe burn on your arm or leg, the burn hurts like hell but it gives you a good story to tell your mates. The acting by some really good and in my view 1st/2nd grade actors will not let you down however let me outlay a few points on Michael Chiklis. It is hard to get into a movie if its a found footage style movie if you suffer with motion sickness or sensitive to joggy camera work, just like that, it is hard to actually get fully into this movie as a lead character Michael Chiklis does a terrible cockney accent. Now I'm not going to say it was the worse example of an actor trying to do an accent because after hearing Jason Statham trying to do an American accent I think we're even. But it didn't help the fact that (IF) Chiklis was sticking strictly to script then it wasn't accurate in the way we talk. A younger bloke would never say to an older bloke "son" just wouldn't happen. Michael Chiklis almost gets run over at the start of the movie where he says "Look where your going you bloody cow" yet a few minutes later he calls Stephen Langs character "cunt" in a realist environment a cockney would have called the bird a "cunt" and we don't say things like take your legs off at the knee, we would say "kneecapping". I'm disappointed because they actually had a Brit on set Max Beesley who I'm sure over his travels have interacted with many cockney's. Over all it is hard to get pass the bad accent but worth a watch non the less.
tj0331 I was somewhat excited by the premise and the list of actors involved, and I might have gone in viewing this film with too high of hopes. First off, it is a good movie. But there are several scenes that feel,...fake as hell. It was hard to tell who to blame at first, maybe the director? The story is good, the writer will not take the blame. And quite a few of the actors are some of my personal favorites, but there are always some details in many scenes that seem not well planned, or just horribly executed. I want to maybe call it lazy. Like they took one cut per scene and had nothing to pull from in editing. Possibly...I am not trying to be a snob, but I feel like one writing this review. I enjoyed the movie, but almost turned it off several times. And still Common, that boy cannot act... under poor direction. He can rap like a beast, but needs to understand his suppressed gentle tones makes it sound like he wants to get me drunk and seduce me, not interrogate a hard criminal. Ray was his usual self, he does the mafia type well. Forrest man, he got black guy horror movied out of there quick. Oh jeeze, there's a black guy in the building...just kidding, well half kidding. And finally my last complaint, is with f*&$in Vic Mackey and his god awful fake accent. Again, I blame the director and or writer. He said such stereotypical British lines that I wanted to stop watching it immediately. But I stuck it through. The ending is cool. It is hard to explain how I almost loathe this film and love it at the same time.
Claudio Carvalho Nick Davenport (Sean Faris) is released from prison for robbing a car and his wife Amanda (Nikki Reed) waits for Nick to bring him home. She tells that she is pregnant and leaves him at the Be Brite diner since Nick has scheduled an encounter with his brother Patrick Davenport (Jordan Belfi). When the police officer Will (Forest Whitaker) comes to the dinner, he notes that something is wrong and he goes to the toilet. He contacts Lieutenant Barnes (Marton Csokas) and tells that a heist is taking place before the scheduled hour. Then he sees Nick hidden in the room and he tells that he has called the police, and Will gives his name to Barnes. Out of the blue, Will is shot in the head and Nick is brought to the diner where there is a hostage situation. The British criminal Derrick (Michael Chiklis) and the gangsters Billy (Max Beesley) and Aaron (Jonathan Bennett) have stolen clients and a safe and Derrick has taken an HD from the safe. When the negotiator Jeff Porter (Common) arrives, Lieutenant Barnes tells him that Nick is responsible for the heist. Nick becomes a pawn in a deadly game where the award is an HD. What is the secret of the wanted HD?"Pawn" is a low-budget thriller better than I expected, with a non- chronological screenplay with many twists. Unfortunately, the rushed conclusion with happy-ending does not fit well to the story and I believe that it is lack of budget associated to commercial interests. My vote is six.Title (Brail): "Crimes Cruzados" ("Crossed Crimes")
labshop Because of Chicklis and Liotta, I knew what to expect, but even these one hit wonders cannot prepare you for just how awful this movie was. I'm having a hard time sitting through it, but if you make it, from what I understand, they send you a tee shirt. Some scenes almost make the mark, but then the poor performances have you thinking that this TV movie (including vulgarity) must have been perplexing for the bunch that were marketing it. In just the first 15 minutes into it, they must have realized it will never be Box Office material and then begin to worry if it would be attractive to the cable marketplace. Then after a half hour, your concern is if you can recoup your investment in rentals alone, or is it going to turn red altogether ....yeah it is that bad. It looks like it was written by two people, one had brains, the other didn't. The same worn out body language, over viewed plots and a cast not suitable for TV, has the finger that controls the stop button on your remote paying more attention then the rest of your body. Finally, one hour into it, you begin to think if the rumor about the tee shirt is worth it and will you make. The purpose of this review, as you now understand, is to warn the innocent.
