Voxitype Good films always raise compelling questions, whether the format is fiction or documentary fact.
Horst in Translation (filmreviews@web.de) This is a very old Mickey Mouse short film, only runs for 5 minutes and thus it is even shorter than most of the cartoons including the world's most famous mouse. It is black-and-white and basically all there is is Mickey singing and later on text on screen as he wants us to sing along. The song he sings here is an ode to his beloved Minnie, so maybe you can replace her name with your sweetheart. Walt Disney does the voice acting here and he wasn't even 30 when he made this. Very different compared to many other Mickey films and a bit on the weird side perhaps, but not all bad I guess. Possibly worth a watch for its absurdity. Sing-alongs were more a Warner Bros. thing in the decades afterward.
tavm I first saw this Mickey Mouse rarity on a VHS tape from a bargain basement company that showcased public domain films of which this was one and it was double billed with another PD MM short called The Mad Doctor. Anyway, this mainly had the Mouse, after he and the band are through jamming, singing the title song with another singer warbling the words when those lyrics appear on a black screen. Oh, and there is also one funny gag that happens during the intro when the stool uses two of its legs to play the piano keys. Anyway, that's all that happened and it's always a pleasure hearing Mickey's original voice artist, co-creator Walt Disney himself, doing these early Mouse shorts. So on that note, Minnie's Yoo Hoo is worth a look for anyone curious enough about these animation rarities.
rbverhoef This is a short Mickey Mouse cartoon in which he sings the song 'Minnie's Yoo Hoo'. Basically that is all what happens. We are able to sing along since the words appear on the screen as well. Between the different parts of the song we see Mickey from behind a curtain. This very old Disney short is fun because it is a little different. It is not really telling us a story. It simply is a sing along song. The song is pretty good or at least fun to listen. The animation in black and white is terrific. The early Mickey has a nice and simple look that makes even small things, like rolling eyeballs, funny. Recommended if you like the early Mickey Mouse.
travisimo In this very short cartoon Mickey Mouse sings one of Disney's earliest songs, Minnie's Yoo Hoo. It's quite a catchy, memorable song, and I still find myself singing it in the shower or when I'm just bored. In the cartoon, the audience can follow Mickey and the narrator as the lyrics show up on screen. That's all there is to this cartoon, just short and sweet. One thing I found interesting is to see just how starkly different Mickey was drawn back then and how his body contorts at will. That's something you don't see in the modern Mickey Mouse drawings. Minnie's Yoo Hoo is a good and interesting piece of Disney history. My IMDb Rating: 9/10
