Wordiezett So much average
Pacionsbo Absolutely Fantastic
Glimmerubro It is not deep, but it is fun to watch. It does have a bit more of an edge to it than other similar films.
SanEat A film with more than the usual spoiler issues. Talking about it in any detail feels akin to handing you a gift-wrapped present and saying, "I hope you like it -- It's a thriller about a diabolical secret experiment."
Raul Faust That's the reason why I usually give underground movies a chance-- they sometimes end up as a big surprise. Martin, Diane and Mini are part of an unconventional family, in which there is a weird kind of relationship; everything is related to sex, and they appear to be doing it every time. All of them seem to be careless about feelings and each other's well being, showing no affection in all circumstances. The daughter and the stepfather plan to drive the mother crazy, by giving her dangerous pills and putting her in stressful situations, which deliver very funny scenes, like the phone call in the mall. After some works here and there, the mother dies and the rest of the "family" has to deal with a persuasive sheriff, which deliver another good scenes. ALL the cast involved proves to be professional, with highlights to Alec Baldwin, when portraying an aggressive man, and to Carrie-Anne Moss, when portraying a mad woman in trouble. In my opinion, there are some references to "Cruel Intentions", even thought the teenage lifestyle isn't developed in here. Also, the story is quite audacious, and some may feel offended about it. For me, this is a great movie that should've had better recognition than it has! Congratulations!
cat_on_imdb When I watched this film I got stricken with a horrible feeling. I was trying to figure it out what it was then it dawned on me; it was not the movie but rather the fact that, despite being just a movie, one is reminded about how it really is in America. The women here are just as portrayed in this flick. Though they may not act out what they really want to do, don't fool yourself. They think just as these characters and this is what's disturbing most. The men, equally likewise; they are desperate women firster douchebags who will do anything for a whiff of snatch, including being duped by the scams females play. There really is no innocence in this country today.
muspelhem This movie looks good. As slick as a commercial. The language and dialogue is no-nonsense and cool. It has good actors and good acting. BUT! For a plot to work, it must grasp us. We must have a character trying to obtain something, and overcoming challenges to obtain it.But in this movie, the main character wants one thing only: to try new and daring things. So she decides to kill her mother. Now, if she had trouble doing this, things would get interesting. Then her objective of "trying new and daring things" would be challenged. But, unfortunately, she has no trouble whatsoever. She kills her mother just like that.In the second part of the movie, you could say that her objective is "getting away with murder". Here she actually experiences some trouble. A police detective is a little too curious about the mother's "suicide".But from her own gloating and care-free narrative and from the opening scenes, we're already pretty sure she'll get away with it. So why should we care? What makes us care even less is that most of the characters are really unappealing (but gentle on the eyes) and very two-dimensional.All in all, a great lesson in how NOT to make a movie, but to its credit, it looks good, and I liked the score.
guil fisher I might well be the only negative vote on this stupid film. But, sorry, it was a waste of time to see. And also embarrassing to witness such bad performances from Alec Baldwin and Jeff Goldblum. Baldwin as the victim in this was so much better in Malice. At least he had good acting company in the likes of Nicole Kidman and Bill Pullman. Here he had to suffer with the likes of Nikki Reed, whom I've never heard of, in the role of his empty headed stepdaughter with whom he has an affair with while helping her drive his wife to suicide. Reed s just plain awful in this. And definitely not a looker. With over the hill make-up, hips that are way to wide and flat chested in a bikini, you wonder what the big attraction is. Then her bad acting and so called vamp look was a laugh. Jeff Goldblum, I have never understood the success he's had. Not the best of actors and playing with gimmicks and burlesque type acting. The one saving grace in this loser is the presence of Carrie-Anne Moss as the mother who is done in. She gives a true and valued performance. You root for her to win. But the writer chose not to let her do so. Too bad. Also a waste, but doing a fine job with the little he was given to do, was Luke Wilson as the detective who was on to our bitch stepdaughter's motives. The ending made me sick. To see that bitch get away with it. I blame the writer for this and they should be ashamed to allow such drivel reach the screen. And let's hope this is the last of Nikki Reed as well.
