Synopsis

As adults, best friends Julien and Sophie continue the odd game they started as children -- a fearless competition to outdo one another with daring and outrageous stunts. While they often act out to relieve one another's pain, their game might be a way to avoid the fact that they are truly meant for one another.

Karry Best movie of this year hands down!
Grimerlana Plenty to Like, Plenty to Dislike
Matialth Good concept, poorly executed.
Forumrxes Yo, there's no way for me to review this film without saying, take your *insert ethnicity + "ass" here* to see this film, like now. You have to see it in order to know what you're really messing with.
diogo-sesimbra Positives: scene when they finally got together after a decade apart was heartfelt; overall emotional direction of the story was interesting and touching but I felt the delivery was lackluster; surreal scenes near the end were a pleasant surpriseNegatives: kid actors sucked but that part of the movie didn't take itself too seriously so it was not a deal breaker; dad character seemed a bit off psychologically. I understand he got traumatized by the mother's death but even before she died he acted weird with the kid; at some point in the movie the main characters get mad at each other no apparent reason. It seems the writers needed the characters to fight so that the rest of the cliché story line could be pursued. I get annoyed when characters in a movie that obviously like each other and will end up together in the end can't seem to just talk and settle simple problems in the relationship. The movie treats the audience as stupid; the scene at the end where the main characters are old was cheesy.
selenadeer Clever, clever, clever ending. The audience can't be upset by one ending or the other because if you don't like one, you lean into inevitably accepting the other. The ending was a variation of the "Romeo and Juliet" combined with "The Notebook" suicidal/old-age ending. I found myself devastated that they died young, even though they were together, but then was even more saddened after seeing them in old age, presumably having lived out their lives happily, eventually dying, which is still extremely sad and beautiful. Either way, young love and old love feels like a tragedy. In both cases, their love killed them. Ironic, but also perfectly tied to the Title/Themes of the film.
AhmetOzbay I watched it long long time ago but it is still in my mind. It was really good love story actually. Until the end of the movie you can not predict what is going to happen unlike the other romance films. At the end, when the film is over, you wish you had that kind of love too. If you are in some kind of complicated situations in your love life, this movie pushes you to think about it. I think there is this thing for why the movie is really good, the stars of the movie are actually together in real life. If you watch it by knowing that, it becomes more significant.I absolutely recommend it if you haven't watch it.
johnniesmambo This is a real "marmite" of a film - you either love it or hate it! I love it! I agree with the other reviews that it is not your typical Hollywood film - it's a very "european" film, reminding me of a few of Almodovar's films which are also some of my favourite. People I know have struggled to "get" the film - I agree with some of the other reviews that if you try and take this film too literally, it won't make sense - just go with it an enjoy :-) The music is great with the use of La Vie en Rose and other instrumentals! I nominated this film for my monthly book and film club and can't wait to see what the others say. I think it's going to be an interesting debate!
