Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Lovesusti The Worst Film Ever
Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Chirphymium It's entirely possible that sending the audience out feeling lousy was intentional
Ashutosh Mishra Kaminey is a stunning piece of art! Vishal Bhardwaj made a film which is absolutely entertaining as well as perfect in every sense. Great cast, great plot, great music and brilliant cinematography! Probably Shahid Kapoor's best performance yet! What makes Kaminey more beautiful is it's music! Meri aarzoo kamini and Raat k dhai baze are excellent. Character development is also very apt and convincing. It is stylish and beautiful, the dark atmosphere adds to the beauty! The story is fresh and twisted and you have to put yours brains to understand it however it's so engaging from the very first scene that you can not move your eyes anywhere in between. For me it was great and a very stylish masterpiece from the most creative director of India. It is surely one of the finest movies ever made in India.Sincerely, 9/10! A must watch!
GaneshKSalian Kaminey directed by Vishal Bharadwaj is one of the best movies that has been brought out in the Indian Cinema.Excellent performances, brave writing, stylish narration, engrossing background score and superb cinematography makes Kaminey a must-watch not once but twice,thrice..Story: Guddu (Shahid Kapoor) and Charlie (Shahid Kapoor) are identical twins born and raised in the slums of Mumbai. They dream of leaving the squalor behind and moving into a life of prosperity and dignity. Though they look alike, the two are as different as chalk and cheese. One lisps, the other stammers. One is an honest, diligent social worker while the other hedges bets at a racecourse. The brothers want nothing to do with each other. But when Charlie gets mixed up in a deadly get-rich-quick scheme and Guddu realizes that the love of his life has unwittingly put a price on his head, their lives begin to collide. They find themselves facing rogue politicians, drug dealers and crooked cops. As they uncover a sinister plot laid out by the 'political-police-underworld' nexus, their stories finally converge to a point when they realize they only have each other Vishal Bharadwaj has done a brilliant job with Kaminey. He excels! The music by Vishal Bharadwaj is very good. The dialogs are witty. The cinematography is good too.Performances: Shahid Kapoor does an excellent job as Guddu and Charlie. It would have been a tough job for acting as both, Charlie who lisps and Guddu who stammers, but yet Shahid Kapoor manages to take both Guddu and Charlie to another level with his excellent performance.Amole Gupte as Bhope Bhau is an actor to watch out after Shahid. He is superb,mind-blowing,awesome...I am falling short of adjectives to describe his performance.Special mention of Tengzing Nima who portrays the role of Tashi is fantastic.Priyanka Chopra, although having a minimal role is fine. Her Marathi accent is good.Deb Mukherjee as Mujeeb,Shiv Subramanium as Lobo,Chandan Roy Sanyal as Mikhail are excellent in their respective roles. All in all,Kaminey is a must-watch not once but twice or thrice because it has the guts to be something different from the other Hindi movies.I am giving it a nine on ten.Thumbs Up!
tashkhelbo I will give 3/10. # As usual very dark movie from Vishal Bharadwaj. These types of directors thinks dark movie makes their movie very intellectual. Very Arty. # Actors did good job but movie is boring in some parts. Same type of underworld movie. I will watch RGVs Satya or Shiva any day than this one. # I liked his Maqbool but after that all hype. Shahid Kaapoor really did well and if you want to see this movie,,,,you can only watch for him. Even "dhan te nan" is no "Bidi Jalaile"... # I will suggest the director to make a bright, colorful movie next time. How can everything in the movie be in dark and low light??????
Avinash Patalay Vishal Bharadwaj takes a break from Shakeshpeare and decides to give the Bollywood audience a break from candy-floss films (read that as K-Jo, YRF and their lookalikes!). He gives us a taster session of Tarantino & Guy Ritchie, famed for their distinct style of film-making. Unique (and loony) characters, tension-building scenes, unexpected turn of events, razor-sharp lines, strong background score - you name it "Kaminey" has all the ingredients. There is no "Once upon a time....." business here, the audience find themselves thrown into the middle of quagmire owing to which in the first few reels you find find yourself gasping to comprehend. Not being funny, but only the smart & intelligent stay with the proceedings. Brilliant performances from all actors, including the host of new faces.۩ Shahid Kapur:: Guddu & Charlie - not exactly "chalk-and-cheese" there, as you would normally expect in a storyline of identical twins. Let's say one is slightly more deceitful. Divide the stutter and lisp between them and Shahid gets a role of his lifetime which he delivers with utmost perfection.۩ Priyanka Chopra:: Just about completing her home-run and needless to say her performance as the Maharashtrian girl is a feather in the cap.۩ Amol Gupte:: Another Mahesh Manjrekar in the making. ۩ Deb Mukherjee:: Nice to see him after a long sabbatical, though short- role."Dhan Te Nan" is an obvious scene-stealer while the rest of the numbers would take sometime to catch up. Gulzar's lyrics as usual is mystical.Crap was the word that first came to my mind when I watched "Pulp Fiction" but it took a couple of years of maturity to retrace my steps and appreciate the body of work. It goes without saying "Kaminey" deserves a second-time watch to get the gist and perhaps a few more to notice the grammar of fine film-making.
