Kailansorac Clever, believable, and super fun to watch. It totally has replay value.
Livestonth I am only giving this movie a 1 for the great cast, though I can't imagine what any of them were thinking. This movie was horrible
AshUnow This is a small, humorous movie in some ways, but it has a huge heart. What a nice experience.
Scarlet The film never slows down or bores, plunging from one harrowing sequence to the next.
Sameir Ali 101 years after the release of this masterpiece.D.W. Griffith, the father of film technique decided to make this movie after the Most famous movie The Birth of a Nation (1915), because he was hurt being criticized as a racist. Intolerance was made on a huge budget, breaking the record budget of his previous film. This record remained for almost 40 years. Such huge was the set decoration and art work.Intolerance is an anthology that says 4 different stories in different era. The film is still relevant. Even after a century of the film's release, the time passes but the situation is same "Intolerance", one form or the other, it still exists. Suffering never ended.A definitely must watch for all film lovers. Do not miss it. #KiduMovie
Eric Stevenson "Intolerance" may in fact be the first truly great movie ever created. Some would say that honor goes to "Birth Of A Nation". Unfortunately, it's now regarded as old shame as it's quite racist. As I have now seen both films, I will admit that this one is better. Seeing as how it was made so quickly after BOAN, I thought it would be against racism. It's true that intolerance is obviously the main theme, but it isn't racism that this touches upon. It's a variety of things, but mostly religious tolerance. Nowadays, everyone just hates every kind of religion so it's quite unique. The weirdest part was figuring out where the "modern" part took place. It looked like it could easily pass for the 1950's. I realized it obviously couldn't be at that time because it hadn't happened yet. I guess it works really well as a period piece. It's hard to say that was unintentional, seeing as how it shows years from so long ago. What I love is that these years are so far apart. I'm no mathematician, but he fact that they seem to be equally distant, at least in terms of technology, shows great variety. My favorite is the Babylon part.Of course, most people say that. It's obviously the parts that have the best battle scene with really does hold up. I felt like I was watching an old timey version of "The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King". This is about as epic as it comes back in those days. I also love the way the stories are told. They're mostly separated by a literal story book. The actors are even credited differently based on the segments they're in. I guess it's hard to find the fullest version, but three hours is long enough for me. At the end, they simply show all the different parts together. It does all add up well. This is one of the best silent films, well, one of the best films ever made and everyone should see it and yes, it has a great message of prejudice that holds true now and forever. Perfect ****.
grantss Probably one of the most influential movies of all time. The use of parallel, independent stories and lavish sets was quite revolutionary for the time. However, it certainly hasn't aged well. Because it is a silent movie, extravagant actions and spoon-fed descriptions of the plot have to be used instead of dialogue. This makes the movie quite campy, and long. So long, at 3 hours it is an ordeal.Plus, the plot is quite preachy and feels forced. Still, worth watching just from an historical perspective. Might be a struggle to get through though.
ofpsmith When I watched Intolerance I couldn't help but just marvel in amazement at the incredible sets. These sets are just enormous and there are an incredible amount of extras. Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages is an incredible epic told beautifully by DW Griffith. It has 4 main stories that are all interwoven. A story about a young married couple in 1916 United States who have been affected by crime. The second story is of the siege of Babylon. The next story is of a 16th century battle of France. The last story is about Jesus Christ. Mind you though that the Jesus story is the shortest. The 4 stories cut back from one story to another. It is a beautiful narrative structure and it is all helped by the amazing sets. This has got to be one of the most well made films I've ever seen. This is the first feature film from Griffith that I've seen, so I will be looking forward to watching his other films in the future.
