Solemplex To me, this movie is perfection.
Nessieldwi Very interesting film. Was caught on the premise when seeing the trailer but unsure as to what the outcome would be for the showing. As it turns out, it was a very good film.
Cooktopi The acting in this movie is really good.
Curt Watching it is like watching the spectacle of a class clown at their best: you laugh at their jokes, instigate their defiance, and "ooooh" when they get in trouble.
shakercoola If the lead character didn't come across so snarky and smug and cynical she would be easier to root for. Otherwise, it's a competent sentimental comedy, screwball satire, with a theme of self-empowerment wins the day. The realm of voice-over performance is an original backdrop for a story.
victordelavieter If this movie shows on a screen or pops up in a database near you, go watch, you won't be disappointed. So often comedies are announced as 'hilarious' but go overboard, mostly on the easy cheesy laugh front. Not this one. Both family comedy, Hollywood insider story and father-daughter drama, it has all the elements to keep you entertained, even if the happy end is over-sweet. Lake Bell seems to be all-involved with writing, directing and starring, but this does not seem to have had a negative impact. On the contrary. Her role as the forlorn accent-obsessed voice coach surrounded by male chauvinists, a sister who's in a marriage that's fall apart the odd lesbian and some true friends is wonderfully played out. The central theme, about the role of voice in the movie industry and life itself, is played out. Lots of language and insider jokes, cameos (by Eva Longoria among others), actors enjoying every bit of playing out their often outrageous characters, this is a winner in many categories. Enjoy.
kayak_nut I loved this movie. It felt like Cary Grant and Doris Day in the new millennium. Ms. Bell directs and leads, creating a movie of wonderful, kind energy we may all find too little of in today's world. Lessons taught sweetly with just enough pain. People being people, weird and imperfect but ultimately adorable.Watch it with friends or family, lovers or children, and you'll have a great time.So that's it. Nothingmore to say. IMDb's requirement of 10 lines is silly. It forces bad writing and trite thought.Ya know?
xhidden99 I can't take it anymore. Every 'witty' movie, every 'sharp' TV show is an endless cacophony of 450 words per minute stammering chatter about absolutely not a god damn thing at all except complaining. Couple that with a movie ABOUT voice overs that's nearly mumbled and whispered into a muddy mush, lighting that's nearly dark, and direction that leans heavily on the show 'Parenthood' and you've got this mess. This movie is about nothing and most of it takes place over the phone between people who either hate each other or are doing the fake stream of consciousness thing a la 'Gilmore Girls'. I just can't take it anymore. In a world where garbage is wit and quality is something pulled off the shelf as a cliché's cliché only one woman cam save civilization from OCD. And fails.
