VeteranLight I don't have all the words right now but this film is a work of art.
Acensbart Excellent but underrated film
Invaderbank The film creates a perfect balance between action and depth of basic needs, in the midst of an infertile atmosphere.
Nicole I enjoyed watching this film and would recommend other to give it a try , (as I am) but this movie, although enjoyable to watch due to the better than average acting fails to add anything new to its storyline that is all too familiar to these types of movies.
Paul Celano (chelano) There has been many movies like this one out. You take a group of people, stick them together, make a game out of it, mostly everyone dies. The most popular out at this time is the Saw series. But that series really relies on the gore factor to make the viewers jump. This one, not so much. There was a few pretty gruesome scenes, but for the most part the movie messes with your mind; not your eyes. The cast was decent. They had some girls in their clearly for eye candy, but at least they could act. Dennis Hopper was an interesting touch. I will also point out that I enjoyed Raffaello Degruttols's role as the cop. The story of the film was pretty good, but some parts were a little boring. You kind of wanted to see more action than dialog, but like I said before, I believe they were just trying to play with your mind. The film takes you all over the place making you wonder what will happen at the end. See if you can guess it and then be prepared for the real ending.
grizz3344 I actually really liked this movie, and i don't care what anybody says. I have watched Saw, and this is nothing like it so stop. Seriously. You're over-reacting so much its ridiculous. The actors were very good, and although you had to watch about 45 minutes of the movie before it actually kicked off, it was overall an okay movie. I would watch it again, and probably will end up watching it again. It had some of the same aspects as the saw movies, but this was so far from it. The ending was insane!!! Although the one that survived, i wanted someone else to make it. But the ending will definitely keep you guessing. I do recommend this movie! B+
Bloodwank So, nine strangers get kidnapped, stuck in a house and told that the one who gets out alive will receive 5 million dollars. Yep, it isn't the most original or dazzling of concepts, but strangely enough it just about manages to pull off its modest ambitions. Despite the off pacing and some shocking dialogue, things keep moving and really catch fire for a satisfying final block. Style is what holds this one together, director Steven R. Munroe has a great feel for the cold, impersonal setting, the camera roams gleaming corridors and clinically gazes at its mysteries, a sterile and uncomfortable feel neatly offset by the bumptious characters. He is just alright at the dramatic side of things though, like the actors he does his best with the script but he fails in enticing the right vivid performances out of all. Dennis Hopper has a bizarrely pacifying role as an Irish priest, wielding grizzled authority and a gentle wisdom he puts in a good show. Peter Capaldi is occasionally amusing but his role is underwritten and others mostly show their non-acting talents. However a welcome current of off kilter craziness comes from French actor Hippolyte Girardot, really relishing his part he plays it broad and brings great fun, a big bonus to the film. The only part that really didn't work for me was Asher D in a hideously written cliché of a no talent rapper character, he appears not to have any talent to begin with but I'm still surprised that he didn't tear up the script, given some of the bilious nonsense he has to utter. Generally speaking everyone works OK together, some sparks are there and the right gradual escalation of tensions, it's a nicely multi-national cast and though often soapy their behaviour is shot to stylish effect. It just isn't that interesting or exciting and the plot doesn't have enough movement in it to sustain the run time. For the most part the film follows a holding pattern, there isn't all that much going on and some of the decisions made are pretty dumb, it would have been better I think if the film got to the crunch earlier and then either spun out its shenanigans for longer or finished earlier. At least when things finally do explode they do so in fine fashion, bloody, tense and mean, the final 20 minutes or so is rather a blast and does a pretty decent job in making the audience forget earlier longueurs. It doesn't make up for everything, but still left me liking the film well enough at the end. I can't exactly recommend this one highly, but it is alright in my book, worth a watch if the plot intrigues but don't expect anything too impressive. 6/10 from me then
Jacob Perhaps it has something in common with Saw and Cube, the movies I really found absolutely terrible. This one is different and it's not actually a horror movie. The writing is good, the acting is good, and it's not depressing like Saw and Cube that to me personally were simply unbearable whereas this one keeps you watching because it's simply interesting and that's it. Let me also say that I don't mind extreme violence, when the plot is thrilling, that's why Hostel (that is only the first part) is one of my top favorites in the horror genre. Anyway, if you like being entertained and like interesting movies, check this one out. The ending was nothing you could possibly expect, and before that you'll have enough thrills to appreciate this little thriller.
