Claysaba Excellent, Without a doubt!!
Arianna Moses Let me be very fair here, this is not the best movie in my opinion. But, this movie is fun, it has purpose and is very enjoyable to watch.
Loui Blair It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Caryl It is a whirlwind of delight --- attractive actors, stunning couture, spectacular sets and outrageous parties. It's a feast for the eyes. But what really makes this dramedy work is the acting.
Stephen Abell So once again, we have a good premise for a story that isn't fully developed, which in turn weakens the film. Hellworld is a computer RPG and puzzle game starring Pinhead and the Cenobites. Years later, a party is being held for a select group of gamers. To get an invite you just have to solve a puzzle. A group of five friends solve their way into the party. Once there, they meet the host, a mysterious man who has decked out the mansion with a whole host of gruesome oddities. It's not long before the blood starts to spill...It was a treat to see Lance Henriksen in a Hellraiser film... except that it's not a Hellraiser film. Out of the new series, this is the furthest off the mark... however, it is more enjoyable than the rest. Even though the twist in the tale spoils the film, in respect to it being a Hellraiser movie, it actually makes it a decent psychological thriller. Not the best as it's all been seen before, but still very watchable. The other point at odds is the acting. This isn't as strong a cast the previous flicks only Henriksen and Bradley stand out. The rest of the cast is quite average. I'll also wager this film wasn't mentioned when Cavell went up for the Superman role, But for once, the direction helps to keep the audience's attention. Bota is quite good at creating a lively party atmosphere. He even keeps the pace tripping along to the beat. This is a great surprise as his previous takes on the Hellraiser mythos have been quite meandering, even verging on boring. The major drawback to this film is the gaping holes in the story, which I cannot go into detail about because it would spoil the film for those of you thinking of watching. There are way too many inconsistencies to be explained in the film and this damages the story and lessens the enjoyment. What this film needed was a much better thought out story taking into account the Cenobites as main characters and not just add-ons. It could be done and it wouldn't have taken too much to accomplish. If you are thinking about watching the film then I would say to give it a go but remember it's not a real Hellraiser story... in fact, it's not actually a horror film. If you like psychological thrillers, with a dark supernatural twist, then you should delight in this movie.
vengeance20 So after the dull & boring Hellrasier: Deader film, you'd think that the next film would be worse, well... it wasn't! It was actually a good step up from the previous installment & quite frankly, comes 3rd to Hellseeker! The film is about a group of teens who go to a Hellrasier themed party. (Yes, this film just like that of the Scream Films, it gained it's own cult following within the film, with merchandise, a website, outfits you name it!). So anyway they gain entry into this party via a Hellraiser themed game website & each of them get invited to a house party in the sticks which is Hellraiser themed also! They then get taken to a room & are given masks & Mobile Phones to contact each party goer for a drink/sex/partying! The host then drugs each of them & once again, after opening the Lament Configuration get lost into another world because of this host!I found the film to be very good & even better than that of Bloodline, which is also great in it's own way too. But this film had a more modern take on it, which even now makes it look old considering how far technology has come but that's another talk. Anyway the film was not only modern looking from the previous films, but had a theme laced into it, it was a Hellraiser theme in the film too, unlike the others where it wasn't as well known, the Lament Configuration became well known within the Hellraiser universe & thereby became a cult. Just like that of the Scream Films also, they had a Scream Theme within there world just like that of the Hellraiser Franchise with this 8th Film. The gore effects were plain epic in this film not to mention the kills & death sequences which also made it great! The ending I also liked & found it to be a great way to wrap up the ending to this great film! Katheryn Winnick was drop dead gorgeous in this film! Absolutely babe!Overall this was a really great breath of fresh air & a great surprise as Deader left a bad taste in my mouth! 8.5/10
jacobjohntaylor1 This is the eighth Hell raiser movie and it is not very good. The first Hell raiser movie is great. It is very scary. Hell bound Hell raiser II is a great movie. It is very scary. Hell raiser III hell on earth s a great movie. It is very scary. The forth Hell raiser movie Hell raiser the blood is a great movie. It very scary. This one is not scary. It is badly written. It has an awful ending. It just pooh pooh. Good actors wasted there talent being in this awful movie. Do not wast your time. Do not wast your money. Do not see this movie. This movie is better then the ninth one Hell raiser revelations. But that one is pooh pooh. So it is not hard to be better.
Jackson Booth-Millard This was the eighth film in the series, and the fourth film to be released straight to DVD, and for the moment anyway it looked like the last film to star the original actor playing the part of the iconic villain, I knew it was going to be silly. Basically a group of youths have all been playing an internet computer game based on the Hellraiser series called Hellworld, they have all become addicted, and many of them have accepted an invitation from the game to attend a private fan party. Four of the party goers are friends Chelsea (Katheryn Winnick), Allison (Anna Tolputt), Derrick (Khary Payton) and Mike (Henry Cavill) two years since it happened are still mourning after the death or their friend Adam who committed suicide, their former friend Jake (Christopher Jacot) blames them for his death, he has only attended the party to meet a female gamer he has got to know online. It becomes obvious at the event, inside an isolated mansion, however that middle-aged party Host (Lance Henriksen) has nasty intentions for some of his guests, he shows them individually his private macabre collection of demonic objects and possessions, and one by one he kills them in malicious ways. The puzzle box, the Lament Configuration, is of course in amongst the things hidden in the house, and when it is opened the torture on the guests only increases when the Cenobite leader Pinhead (Doug Bradley) appears to punish people for their horrible pasts. It comes to the point when the last remaining victim tries to get the police to help, and ends up outside trying to escape, and the Host reveals that the other victims are not actually dead, she and they were all put in trances to see themselves and each other die in the ways they did, and in fact they are all buried alive. In the end the Host ends up being a victim himself when Pinhead punishes him for his evil crimes, and the last survivor is the only one to get out of their grave alive, the other victims die seemingly natural deaths from their injuries and symptoms of burial, the demon disappears, but the puzzle box remains. Also starring Stelian Urian as Adam. Being the last time Bradley plays Pinhead it is a short sequence of appearances and he only brings a little gravitas like he used to, Henriksen is an alright choice for the main villain besides the demon, but he is pointless casting, the story within the story is a bit of silly thing see occur, the concept of inviting people to a house to be killed one by one is nothing new, and the moments of death and torture are wasted, it is a rubbish, boring and pointless horror thriller. Pretty poor!
