PodBill Just what I expected
Kidskycom It's funny watching the elements come together in this complicated scam. On one hand, the set-up isn't quite as complex as it seems, but there's an easy sense of fun in every exchange.
BallWubba Wow! What a bizarre film! Unfortunately the few funny moments there were were quite overshadowed by it's completely weird and random vibe throughout.
Derry Herrera Not sure how, but this is easily one of the best movies all summer. Multiple levels of funny, never takes itself seriously, super colorful, and creative.
phoenix 2 Not having read the manga, but having already watched a respectable number of manga movies from Japan, I can definitely say that this one is one of the good ones. The story is interesting, with the girl who looks like a horror movie character actually nailing it when it came to look scary when looking at others. The actress did a great job portraying the girl as innocent and shy, though she, sometimes, seemed to have difficulties expressing herself to the point where she hardy talked, and that was kind of tiring after a while. The rest of the cast did a great job as well. The story, in addition, focuses more on the friendship factor and less on the romance. That's nice and refreshing, but, the ending was disappointing, as, at least for me, it needed a better conclusion or a few minutes more. Other than that, it was an enjoyable movie.
Mintroll This is the very pure love story in Japanese film. I haven't seen such a pure story, so many Japanese girl including me might long for a peachy youth like this. In high school, a boy falls in love with a girl. The boy is popular in the class, while the girl is kept away from classmates because her name and looks. The point of this film is that the boy came to like her personality when he met her for the first time. But she doesn't notice it because she does not have confidence in herself. Gradually they are fascinated each other. Only to see their pure characters, I feel comfortable. The actors are also good and I love them.
dondau1 I'm a fan of the anime and found the film to be quite charming and moving, the characters endearing and well acted and the overall feel of the film, wholesome. The casting was spot on for the principals. Mikako Tabe, as Sadako, was especially impressive, as were the the actors playing Chizu, Yanosan, Ryu and Kazehaya. I don't know if this film is for everyone, but as an older person, with a varied taste in film and entertainment genres, I rank it up there with The Railway Children and The Swiss Family Robinson. My only complaint were the constraints put on it time wise. Trying to fit a 24 episode anime into a two hour film is a difficult task. The filmmakers succeeded, but I and I'm sure most fans of Kimi Ni Todoke, could have easily sat through a four hour version.
martin-fennell Well I have to disagree entirely with the former review. I thought this was a lovely movie. I say this not as a teenage girl, but male long past his teenage years. In Japanese movies, and TV series, friendship would seem to be just as, if not more important than love relationships. I was more interested in the friendship between the three girls. than in any potientel love between the two lead characters. I loved the fact that sadako,s two friends refused to believe that she was incapable of spreading rumours about her. In another movie, particularly Hollywood ones, you could see a falling out between them, with dialogue such as "how could you spread those awful rumours about me. I wanted to be your friend, and this is how you repay me. I never want to see you again" of course eventually the truth will come out. I also liked the fact that the real rumour spreader wasn't a bad person. She just did a bad thing.
